In the two decades that I lived in the US, I have sampled Biriyani from various eateries around the US but the Biriyani from Savory Pot really stands out for 4 big reasons-
1) The concept: the Biriyani is frozen at a semi-cooked state and can be stored for a long time. When heated (or rather cooked, for the recommended time) it really rivals the authentic taste of good freshly prepared Biriyani. So it’s not really your typical frozen food.
2) The quality and quantity of ingredients: the quality of meat used is really good, especially the goat and is cooked to perfection. The quantity is usually more than the suggested number of people for different bowl sizes
3) The packaging and service: Firstly, the Biriyani comes in a real ceramic bowls with a plate making it table-ready for potluck parties- the bowls are yours after the party! Secondly, at least in certain parts of MD they deliver until late at night and it could be great option for passing travelers staying at hotels late at night when everything is closed. The plate provided in the bag helps in such situations.
4) Priced right: It comes to around 8-10$/person if you get the medium or large bowls- so pretty economical for students and biriyani addicts like me.

I just found out about this catering service from one of our family friend so I thought to try it today. I ordered it first time. Food is delicious ,came up nice and warm. Good packing and delivery was on time. I really loved the traditional Biryani flavor the portion was generous. I can eat it at least two times .This is a hidden gem. We recommend to everyone. Give them a try you will not be disappointed.

I came from India for a couple of weeks on business trip and was craving for some good Indian food when I came across Savory pot. The sound of saffron rice dum biryani sounded really nice.
I am from down south and have eaten a ton of good biryani and Savory pot comes close to one of the best Biryani I ever had.

I ordered chicken and veg biryani. Absolutely delicious biryanis with top quality chicken and long grain rice and delicate subtle but amazingly flavorful spices. Explains why the owners decided to focus on just biryani! The thoughtful packaging with reusable bowl and bag is a bonus.
Highly recommended if you are looking for takeout that feels like biryani you have just cooked at home delicately and carefully, ready to be served to guests and self alike!

I ordered Chicken Biryani for Dinner. It arrived in a reusable pot. The chicken and rice quality were excellent, a perfect blend of species, texture, aroma and taste. Initially I was upset when I got a call after placing order that chicken Biryani single serve is finished. So buy medium bowl. Clearly it felt like upselling attempt or prepackaged Biryani. Hence kept my expectations very low.
However, the Lamb Biryani and Veg paneer Biryani (only options available in single serve) were really great. Worthy of a five star.

I Ordered the large lamb biryani to break fast. Everybody that came over, loved it. It was hands down one of the best I’ve had. It was aromatic, full of flavor, but not over powering. Like the perfect balance. Can’t wait to try their other biryani’s!
