My husband and I had a wonderful Valentine’s dinner at Raja Restaurant on 14 February 2026. From the moment we arrived, the pretty waitresses provided warm and enthusiastic service, making us feel very welcome.

We ordered Mango Lassi, Madras (Hot) Prawn, Tandoori Chicken (one whole chicken), and a bread basket consisting of a variety of Indian breads — Plain Naan, Roti and Puri.

The Mango Lassi was perfectly thick and refreshing. The Madras Prawn Curry was made with fresh prawns and delivered a deliciously hot and spicy kick, just as we like it. The Tandoori Chicken was beautifully marinated with Kashmiri herbs, tender and flavourful, and paired wonderfully with the doi yogurt. The bread basket was freshly prepared and complemented the dishes perfectly.

After our meal, a handsome waiter pleasantly surprised us with a traditional Indian Mukhwas, elegantly served in a decorative tray with four small bowls and decorated with a lovely carnation flower as embellishment. To make the evening even sweeter, he also served us two After Eight chocolates on a plain white plate.

The thoughtful presentation and attentive service truly impressed us and made the optional gratuity well deserved. It was a memorable dining experience, and we would absolutely love to return again.

Where do I start. The food wasn’t too bad, I definitely did expect a little bit more. Came really hungry so we got a sharing starter for 2 that was the only satisfying thing I ate. Tastier than the second dish which was another platter for 2 with a variety of dishes but somehow , none of it blew me away, not even one sadly. It could have just been wrong choice ordered, but 3 starts overall.
There’s been more satisfying places with authentic flavours.

A must visit if you’re in Cambridge and love Indian food. They serve an incredible range of flavourful dishes and the service was super. We really enjoyed the Butter Chicken, Shere Kahn and of course the Black Dhall.

Wow! What an experience the food was absolutely to die for, most authentic indian I think I’ve been too and such value for money in terms of portions. The staff were out of this world lovely and it was great to talk with them and share their passion for food. Hats off to all the team for making it such a wonderful experience!

Absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for authentic, tasty, great Indian food. The owners and staff are incredibly accommodating and the place is always buzzing whether in the week or a weekend so I wouldn’t definitely recommend booking. Love it and will come back again and again. Thank you!

Fantastic service and food. The food was wonderful, we had tandoori lamb chops which were amazing, pakora bites which were tangy and spicy. For mains we had a lamb bhuna, jaipur chicken and lamb biryani. Everyone enjoyed all the dishes. Service was warm and friendly.

Food is amazing, atmosphere is brilliant, the two girls who served us were brilliant but the man at front of house was rude. It was Valentine’s Day and it did put a negative beginning to what should have been a great dinner. We would come back provided the initial interaction didn’t happen.

Lovely food and people.

Waiter suggested a more suitable and cheaper option than we were originally intending. We ordered Chicken Pakoda and Raja’s grill. The food was quite tasty and felt authentic, and the portion sizes were very generous. Wait staff and the owner were nice and friendly too. Although we went in thinking it was a more expensive place than we usually go to, we ended up paying less than we do typically. Very good experience overall.

The food and service at Raja is excellent, for both dining in and takeaway. The team go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. The restaurant has been decorated in the style of a train station (which we love) and it’s a small, intimate restaurant, perfect for date nights or your closest circle of friends. We’ve also ordered takeaway for 10+, which was delivered quickly and with a personal touch.
