Just a heads up, the Julia restaurant is not the Staab House and the Staab House is not a restaurant. It’s a small bar NEXT TO the Julia. The Julia serves food. Menus listed on Staab’s profile show the name Julia. The $20-30 for Staab is for drink prices, not food.
We stopped in to eat, got turned around by the staff, was told there’s a 1 hour wait for Julia and all tables were full at Staab. Saw kids seated in the bar area. While standing near the bar trying to figure things out, the bartender pushed past us with a rude tone on the way to deliver drinks.
So we left. Might explain some of the reviews and the average rating.

We had an early birthday dinner and the restaurant was lovely. All the food was very flavorful and we really enjoyed everything we ordered but especially the cocktails! The staff was excellent ! And they gave me a free desert with a candle for my birthday.

This was for sure the best margarita I’ve ever had. My husband and I got the Blood Orange. Not only was the quality amazing, but it was large (nice to finally have a marg that takes a while to drink and isn’t all ice) AND the atmosphere is great. It’s dim and classy. A lady walking out with her friends said, “this is the most beautiful bar I’ve ever seen!” And I have to agree.

Bartender Luis was great, super friendly, knowledgeable and skilled in his craft. We enjoyed our drinks and visiting with other patrons.

Had the Santa Fe Margarita Trail Marg and it was awesome. It’s made with apricots planted by the original owner of the mansion on the property. Easy drinking and delightful. Definitely add to your list of stops for a bevy. By the way the flan is insane.

Servers/bartenders were pretty inattentive.
Service was pretty slow, drinks watered down. Worst Old Fashioned I’ve had in a long time. It was served with a crazy amount of ice and was murky, which for a “craft cocktail” place, was pretty disappointing. Margs were meh. After spending $150 there for two rounds of drinks, this place is a hard pass.

It’s a great old bar with style and great bartenders, some of the best around. Food can be good too. But they changed the menu months ago and website still not updated, went away from good sharing bar food, and took away most everything I got on a regular basis. Good nachos – gone. Cobb salad – gone. Chicken Sandwich – gone. Added weird non Santa Fe things like poke nachos (no normal nachos) and tater tots. Can’t order the taco you want. Now you have to order 3 without choice and take what they give you, get a fish taco even if you can’t eat fish. Just weird decisions so I go from eating regularly here to drinks and have to eat elsewhere.
So staff is great but the overall management coming from the hotel is out of touch. Recent history had Credit card machine and then computers went down in October and fixed in March! 6 months. Should have had a fix, even if temporary, within hours.
