I took my team out for dinner on Friday night Dec 13th and wanted to treat them to some place nice as a holiday dinner. There were 6 of us and the food was relatively good but the service was horrible. My wife ordered the rib eye well done and it came out very bloody. When we told our server it was supposed to be well he took it back and said they would cook it longer. It came back not as bloody but still red in the middle. We ended up asking a different server to take it back. The 3rd time it was ok. Our server apologized saying he thought she said medium. So she ended up eating alone as everyone was finished before she got her plate back. 2 things really stuck with me. First – they just recooked the original steak 2 times, as she had cut it in the middle to check it, so when she got it back it was still cut in the middle. You would think they would cook a new steak to ensure all of the juices were sealed. Especially for the price we were paying. Second – it was really their error and they did nothing to compensate for the error. We all were trying to have a great night but it was ruined for her since she had to wait while everyone else was eating. No discount, no free desert, nothing only an apology from our server. The cost came out to 475.00 with a 80.00 included gratuity which was way too much for the service we got. If the tip would have been optional I would have stiffed the server for not offering anything in return for the poor service. So here is my suggestion as I am a frequent patron of Barona and I am so disappointed with this visit. Don’t waste your time or money on this place. Go upstairs to Sage. We have never been disappointed there and the service is fantastic. The Steaks are awesome the service is top notch and the price is half the cost. I hope the management sees this post as I feel if you pay relatively 50 to 60 dollars per plate the experience, service and food should be perfect.
