Robin’s “Rob” Reviews!
I was food robbed. Look at pics. They should be ashamed they even sent this plate out. The fries were bigger than the fish. The oysters, fries, cold slaw, and fish were not tasty. I’m still enraged on the fact they called these filets. These were nuggets and not worth the $15.64. Paid extra for a small container of tarter sauce that was bigger than the fish!

Best catfish on this side of town. Love the fries, hush puppies cole slaw and all the rest of the sides included. Price went up from my last visit, but everything is!

I have lived in Dallas since 1975, and Catfish King has always been a staple in the southern area. Of course, things were much better then. You got whole fillets and fresh fries, and the hushpuppies were nice and crispy. It was a much better time to have Catfish Friday.
Now, the Catfish King that is still open has different ownership, and the food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. The catfish (if it is even catfish) are now strips and dry, the fries are day-old, and the famous hushpuppies are limp. It was a waste of money because I couldn’t eat it and didn’t feel like driving back up there (I don’t live close). Oh, and the shrimp were a hard pass—no seasoning on anything, and there was a strange aftertaste. It was terrible. No wonder there were only two cars in the parking lot, which probably belonged to the people working there.
I normally wouldn’t be so harsh, but that restaurant has been in the community for well over thirty years, and it’s heartbreaking to see how run-down and nasty the food is. I will not be returning.

Ahhh, update please. The place is old. I thought the old town sherrif was gonna come out and grab a plate.
Other reviews were right. The food needs seasoning. The catfish should be called small fish. They are tiny. I frequent another catfish joint and the pieces are huuggeee
Seems to me that when an owner has a paid off building, nothing gets redone. The ketchup dispenser was broken and old. The soda machine lacked detail and the wood decor thu out needed cleaning.
I dont recommend this place. There are plenty catfish spots near by. The food vendor is either ripping off catfish king or catfish king is cutting the main product to stretch the food. Not cool.

I got the 3 piece spicy catfish. It was a low spiciness with a great flavor. The fries were hand cut and had a touch of sweetness to them. It was a wonderful meal and I’ll be going back for more soon.

Always enjoyed catfish king in Sherman,Tx where the staff is polite and courteous. The location in Duncanville,Tx is not at all the same. Was ignored at the counter waiting. Waited over 10 minutes before we were acknowledged to be only given low customer service. No sweet tea in decanter and when asked for some, well the counter girl said were out (6pm). Cleanliness of establishment is very poor and is beyond description. Drink machine filthy, plasticware dispenser filthy, tables dirty and was afraid to use restroom from condition of dining area.Menu is also different in comparison with less food and higher prices. Employees seem be in la la land. Establishment is soo poor i would never return. Manager seems to be attentive to her family or friends but nobody else. If this is a corporate store it is in dire need of restructuring and retraining ASAP.

This is a family meal. Over $30 spent for a few pieces of fish, an order of onion rings, fries, and hushpuppies? Avoid this location as it’s a rip-off. Just trash.

We had one in Sherman at it closed down! A very sad day for us! Now, we drove 1-1/2 hours just to go to this one. The place looked identical walking in. They too have a drive through like the one in Sherman did. However, we had to go in and check things out! Definitely not the same feel as the one in Sherman, but still some of the greatest catfish ever. Once I ordered I really over-ordered just because I miss catfish king so much. The associate was very nice and place was cleaner than expected. Bathrooms were a little rough, but just stay clean! Also, the hushpuppies are made different here and are spectacular. We will definitely be going back!
