Reviews
We have had the dolce fico, the calabrese, and the margarita pizzas. Was surprised how much I enjoyed the dolce fico as it is out of my comfort zone but I have ordered it both times. The sweetness of the figs paired with the saltiness of the prosciutto and the heat of the hot honey was a perfect blend. The tomato sauce on the red pizzas was simple and savoury and I can’t stress enough how perfect the dough is with the edge having the perfect amount of crunch with a soft interior. Exactly what you expect in a Neapolitan pizza crust with it being thin so you might use a knife and fork but not so thin you can’t pick a slice up to eat if desired.
The gnocchi were light and fluffy and not dense at all which is always a risk with this pasta. The sauce was delicious and did not overwhelm the pasta.
Our server was pleasant and informative and every worker was happy to help with any needs even when not their table.
The prices are well below what is charged at other restaurants for the same level of dining with Buona Serra’s food being of better quality and taste.
The restaurant is modern and cozy at the same time with a nice combination of tables and booths. There is a large bar to sit at while waiting for your table or just to have a drink and some food while watching the games.
It is so nice to have a quality restaurant in the area and we can’t wait to visit in the summer as it looks like they have a huge patio.
For our main courses, we ordered the Veal Parmesan and the Chicken Piccata. Both dishes were expertly prepared, featuring tender meat and crispy breaded coatings, accompanied by a generous portion of linguini. The highlight of the meal was the tomato sauce; it was rich and zesty, reminiscent of my mother’s homemade version.
Overall, Buona Serra provided a fantastic dining experience with great service, and we can’t wait to return with the rest of my family.
First off, Michael was an awesome server. Super friendly, easy to talk to, and attentive to our requests. He made great recommendations and just had that great, confident energy that makes the whole experience better.
Also… the prices?? Shockingly reasonable. Everything is extremely well priced, especially for the quality you’re getting. This is one of those rare situations where quality did not come at a premium.
Now let’s talk about the food – starting with the Pane D’Oro. This bread is dangerous. Warm, golden, perfectly soft on the inside with just the right crust, absolutely dripping with butter. The kind of bread where you say, “I’ll save room for my dinner,” and suddenly it’s gone. Absolute elite bread service.
For mains, we had the gnocchi and the primavera, and both were excellent. The gnocchi was soft, comforting, and rich without being too heavy, while the primavera was fresh, colorful, and super well balanced. Nothing felt rushed or thrown together, everything tasted intentional. Portions were just right: filling, satisfying, and you don’t feel like you need to be rolled out the door.
Overall, Buona Serra is a huge win for Grimsby on the Lake. Great service, great food, great value, and an impressive start for a new restaurant. We’ll 100% be bac, and probably soon. I plan on eating my body weight in that bread…….
My wife has a peanut and tree nut allergy, and when we mentioned it to our waitress, she immediately brought over the owner, who assured us that this is a completely nut-free facility. That gave us so much peace of mind, and it was wonderful to see how seriously they take food allergies.
The service was excellent and the food was even better. We started with the Pane d’Oro bread and Brussels sprouts, both packed with flavor and clearly made fresh to order. For our entrees, my wife had the gnocchi, and I ordered the chicken parm, substituting linguini for gnocchi. The gnocchi was perfectly soft, and the chicken was juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection. But the real star was the sauce, it was incredible and honestly, they should bottle and sell it.
Plenty of street parking nearby and no reservations needed, which makes it super convenient. We’ll definitely be back soon !
We also shared the Chocolate Martini! Our waitress Bonnie was exceptional.
