After embarking on a cheesesteak odyssey last year in Philly, we were excited to try Cleveland’s take on the steak. The overall assessment of Cheesesteak Whizard was: solid. The bread was definitely an improvement on Philly’s hoagie rolls, being much sturdier and chewier and better able to stand up to the juicy sandwiches. The steak was fine: a standard cut of meat that was well seasoned and properly cooked, while the whiz was… serviceable, but a far cry from Cooper sharp. The fried eggplant sub was actually surprisingly decent: the eggplant was slightly bitter, but it was also double panko-crusted; that delectable crispiness made up for any other shortcomings. All that said, hands down the best thing we ate were the loaded fries. It was a Midwestern culinary travesty: shoestring fries with ranch AND whiz AND bacon (the unholy trinity of flavor) – the sort of food that leaves you questioning your life choices. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt. Plan to take your food to go though, since there are no tables to eat in the shop.

If these guys are “Whizards”, they must’ve studied some dark magic – cause damn, they make some fire cheesesteaks here! While there was only one guy working, he was very nice and had my order ready in like 5 minutes.
I ate to the Eastlake location and heard that they were closing soon, so I wanted to post here. Great job guys, you absolutely nailed it. I’ll be back for sure!

Cheesesteak Wizard is a local legend that never misses. I’ve made it my Wednesday ritual for years because the food is consistently incredible and the atmosphere is effortlessly cool.
Best cheese steak and fired pickles anywhere on Mayfield Road!

One of my new favorite places for cheese steaks. The bread they use for the sandwiches is soft, thick and delicious! I’ve been twice in the last week! Better sandwiches at a better price! There are no tables, but my sandwiches were still steaming hot after a 10 minute drive home.

We had an omega sub and a chicken ranch bacon sub both excellent! Fresh buns the bread was soft and warm a great bun filled with our chopped ingredients. Fresh cut shoestring fries and fried pickles also very good. Quick service, took back to hotel to eat, only chairs for waiting inside

Veg to meat ratio is on point!! The chicken philly wrap is so extra cheesy, and it’s very hot!! Shoestring fries were well seasoned as well. Avery was very friendly and laid back, and did an excellent job, thank you!!!

These are the most stale and disgusting fries I’ve ever had. They didn’t even try. And they knew these fries were stale and nasty but chose to serve them anyway. I even gave them a tip. Not deserved! I ordered my food online at 8:20 pm. I picked it up around 8:45. The fries tasted as if they’d been there for days. The cheesesteak was amazing though. Just never order the fries.

I absolutely love the cheesesteak whizard. They’re taking classic subs and putting their own spin on them. Avery; one of the owners is always so kind whenever I stop in. The place is also designed really cool as well. My favorite is buffalo ranchero but this time I tried the chicken bacon ranch and it was good also! I love being able to support locally owned businesses.
