The owner and his wife are very friendly and cordial. Two of our group drove down from Red Bluff and got there an hour before this place opened. It was extremely nice of the owners to let them come in an hour early to get out of the cold! That was great service! Added one star for their hospitality.
You need to ask for a key to use the bathroom, it’s a single handicapped unisex bathroon, located down the back hall, and outside past a tiny courtyard with a fountain. It was very clean, but I’m not sure a wheelchair could fit it down that narrow hallway with shelving on one side. A person in a wheelchair might have to go out the front door, around the side, and to the back to get to the bathroom.
We booked this place for our holiday dinnner for our club for just ten people. They should have told us there wasn’t enough room to sit all ten of us together.
Two of our group had to sit at a separate table, which put a huge damper on our festivities. The two said afterward it was very isolating. If you have a group of six go for it; they can squeeze eight as a group, but not any more than that! Very disappointing.
The owner suggested Lasagna for us as it was the special of the evening, so we all ordered the lasagna. He had promised to make something special for our group when we booked the reservation. Perhaps he forgot…. As the lasagna was served, we were all impressed with the HUGE portions. Yet quickly disappointed as the bottom was horribly burned, blackened a crisp on every piece… About four of us were served quickly, the rest took a very long time to be served, in stages so the first ones served ended up with cold, burned portions.
One more note about the lasagna, it was extremely spicy hot!! We weren’t prepared for that- thinking it was going to be more traditional Italian. I was unable to eat more than a few bites as my mouth, lips, and throat were on fire!
A few of us could’t finish our meals due to the hot spices. We had to ask for more bread a few times. Our server should have been a bit more attentive.
The owner played several instruments during dinner. Perhaps he should have stayed in the kitchen so we could have all been served at the same time and not with severely burned lasagna.
The live music was unbearably loud. They were positioned right at the end of our table. The keyboard was so close to our table, the owner knocked a light off the keyboard every time he squeezed between the table and the keyboard. We had to yell to hear each other! Totally rude and annoying. Would have been better/quieter if we all could have moved outside, but it was too cold that night.
If you’re going, be prepared for really hot-spicy food. I do not recommend this place for groups – at all, as they obviously can’t handle that many servings at once – even with over a month advance warning! This place might be nice for solo dining, or groups from two to four people. Be sure to sit outside, or wear earplugs and be prepared for concert-loud deafening volume.
I do feel bad as I really wanted to like this place, but it’s just not for me.
