We live just over an hour away from here and we love the deep creek area so much. So we decided to get married there. Just a courthouse wedding but it was special to us. Afterwards we went to get something to eat at this restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we couldn’t stop talking about how nice everyone was, how lovely the atmosphere was, and just the vibe of the place in general. It really was so nice. We had the large size French toast and the hot dog and they were absolutely phenomenal!! We paid and had a good laugh because they were so impressed my new husband ate the big size of the French toast as we were leaving we mentioned that we had just gotten married. Not only were they excited for us and supportive, they wouldn’t let us leave without giving us a gift. We were already planning on coming back but this just made it even better. If you’re on the fence about going, go. You will be so happy you did.

What a find! We shambled in here during a snowstorm and found a keeper. 206 Alder is warm and inviting, with fetching cocktails and a mouth-watering menu. The bartenders are discerning and attentive and fun to chat with. The food..swoon! Fresh tastes with surprising twists, full of culinary nuance. Come here and you will talk about it for a year. We did. We still do.

To be completely transparent, I was visiting from Portland, Oregon on a multi-state road trip and this was my one and only stop to knock the state of Maryland off my list. It made sense as my hotel in Pittsburgh that morning didn’t offer breakfast. I drove over 2 hours to get here, and it was another 2 hours to my next destination in West Virginia.

This place could have been a total dump and I would have remained positive about the experience, but as it turned out, I could not have picked a better restaurant to represent the western side of your beautiful state! Delicious local bagel with cream cheese, VERY fresh fruit, and the best quiche I’ve ever had from a restaurant (as a quiche enthusiast). It was asparagus and I will remember it forever. Both waitresses asked how I liked it, I know it was made with love!

I appreciated the clean bathroom after a long drive as well. I’d love to come back someday, especially after seeing the gorgeous surrounding scenery. Everyone I interacted with was very kind.

We stopped in to order some food to go. It is a cute little place, the employees were great, and the food was prepared quickly. My friend and I both ordered the pastrami sandwich. I have dietary restrictions that require me to be gluten free, and it was great that they had a gluten free bun option. HOWEVER, the GF bun was small, and I was very disappointed to find that I essentially got only have of the portion size that my friend got for the same exact meal (except mine was more expensive due to the typical upcharge for gluten free). The sandwich was delicious (the sides were average), but $18 for the portion size I received was extremely disappointing.

Great little restaurant and bar conveniently located in downtown Oakland. We’ve been coming here for years but just stumbled on this place this year and will be returning yearly.

If there’s a Sazerac on the menu I’m getting it, and the one here tastes just like the one I make at home. It’s rare to find a bar that can make a great Sazerac but this one can, so if you go here, try it!

My wife and I also had sandwiches and enjoyed both – I got the Reuben and next time I’ll probably ask for double the meat. Very tasty though!

Our first time there. Very impressed with everything. First, the food is great. They use their own unique recipes and make the food in-house with good old fashioned home cooking. Our server, Nicky was super attentive and pleasant. One of the owners, Helga stopped to check on us. We will definitely be back. We loved it!

Absolutely phenomenal breakfast/brunch! We got the egg sandwiches and the French toast. The cook was extremely accommodating to my dairy intolerance and made the French toast specifically without dairy just for me.
The waitress was kind and the atmosphere was quiet and clean. Very cozy local spot!

We stopped in the day after Veterans Day to enjoy their extended free-meal offer (which was incredibly generous—three full days dedicated to local veterans). The food was outstanding. We tried several items from the menu, and every single dish was a standout.

The entire staff was warm, attentive, and clearly hardworking, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. This has officially become our new favorite spot in the Deep Creek area. If you’re passing through and want a truly high-quality meal at a surprisingly fair price, this is the place to go.

We can’t wait to come back. Thank you, 206—your team is awesome!
