The appetizers we got were the cream cheese wontons (they were out of the crab ones) and the egg rolls. They were both good. The wontons had green onion in the mix. The egg rolls had lots of noodles inside them.
The sushi was good. I didn’t try it myself but my friend said she really liked it.
The pho was decent. The meatballs came with tendon so if you don’t like that a heads up. The broth was average but not bad by any means. The only thing I was not super happy about was the noodles were really over cooked and kept breaking apart in the bowl.
The prices were very fair. The staff was friendly. The establishment was clean.
I especially loved how the food was presented and the portions, best part was reasonable prices! I had the Wednesday special as well as a Lao styled papaya salad and some cream cheese wontons. Everything tasted authentic and the balance was perfect!
I only wish they had more filling for the wontons though, but besides that nothing else I would change.
Definitely looking forward to coming back here and trying everything else out! I would recommend for families as well as dates or solo dates!
Food: It was underwhelming. We got the pad kra pao, steam rolls, and the fried pork belly laab. The Pad Kra Pao was okay. Ground pork drenched in a sauce that didn’t spark the taste buds but just barely hit satisfaction when paired with the rice and egg. The steam rolls were okay but not balanced properly with a meat to steam rice roll ratio; there was a lot more of the rice roll. So much, I used the extra unfilled rice roll with the Fried Pork Belly Laab. The Fried Pork Belly Rice wasn’t given too much effort. If you’ve tried fried pork belly, you know how juicey the pork meat is when combined with the crunching fried pork skin…it was not this. It was given low effort and then drenched in pepper and laab seasoning. Overall, underwhelming and not satisfying, especially for the price. The price should reflect the quality of the food and quality was not there tonight.
Constantly waiting and needing to ask for basic amenities like a plate, utensils, water and napkins lowered our experience. Service should have been better; having water, plates and utensils being served almost immediately as this is normal for any restaurant. It felt as we were being missed and disregarded.
After our meal, we waited for another 5 minutes but we also noticed none of the workers were around. We went to the front desk and waited for another 3 minutes and paid. The employee did apologize but it was already too late.
Would we recommend this place? No. Food quality and customer service was disappointing. For the price you pay, you would expect much better food quality and customer experience. If you’ve had food from Hmong Village or Hmong Como Town, this food quality is equivalent to that.
We stopped here on the way through from North Dakota to Wisconsin due to one of our children feeling carsick, we just needed some rice to settle her belly. So glad we did! I’ve never had Pad Thai but always hear about it on tv shows and such, so I decided to try it. WOW! So glad I did. Absolutely delicious. Altogether, my family ordered: the sticky rice(very good!), general’s chicken(had a medium spiciness level, equally delicious), the sesame chicken(so yummy, huge portion, my two young children shared this entree), the cream cheese wontons(SO good we ordered a SECOND round), and the pho broth soup(never had before and it was delicious!). I’m so sad Southeats is over five hours away from our home.
The service was great, as well. We never waited long for anything. Food came out super quickly. Our drinks were never empty. Portions were large. And one of the ladies who helped create the menu came out to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Super friendly staff. I was very happy with the quality of our food and service compared to the total on our bill. I would most definitely eat here again and again!
Excuse the photos, they were taken after we started eating. We couldn’t wait!
Water was refilled plenty of times, even before we got the chance to empty our glass! Bravo!
Portions are generous. Everything we got was flavorful and tasted so good. We plan to return and be regulars!
Eggrolls are made with chicken, which I appreciate because I don’t eat pork. They’re meaty and delicious.
The fries with garlic aioli dipping sauce are delicious. Pho was delicious and they were generous with the meat and tendons (usually places I go give only 1-2 pieces of tendon).
Beef laab’s flavor profile was perfectly balanced. It was so good and the star of the show.
Come try this place out and you won’t be disappointed!
