We ordered the chicken butternut squash soup as an appetizer. It was good and we liked that it was served up in a Grandma bowl. It could’ve had more chicken/vegggies and/or less liquid but it did taste good.
We shared the fried catfish and shrimp plate with onion rings. The shrimps were really good. The catfish was good too but a lot of breading. I think I had a couple bites of just breading! Super salty but I still liked it. I would’ve liked to have tasted more of the catfish tho. The onion rings were good too. Same thing with a ton of breading that you barely got a taste of onion. I’d def come back but maybe order less fried food.

The food was delicious! The double burger was amazing, and the fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. We were just visiting the town, and stopping here was the best decision. Highly recommended! Also, their dog is super cute!

Best smashed burgers in and around grandfather mountains!!! Don’t even think about going to Mildred’s Grill (mountain restaurant), you’ll be disappointed. Portions at Smokey’s are big, you’ll hit the spot for sure. Indoor seating is small, only 4 tables and a bar. Better come early

If you’re in the area DO NOT MISS THIS STOP. Best chicken salad I’ve ever ate, my son had the onion rings and chicken tenders & says they’re the best also! Very friendly atmosphere. Loved the seating and dining area, multiple choices of fries. Very generous portion, very friendly staph! CLEAN!

To say this place has a good burger is like saying the Lourve has good art. The burger here is a masterpiece! The meticulously crafted patty, the masterfully grilled sesame seed bun, the perfectly melted cheese… Exquisite. And the atmosphere is ideal for enjoying this finest example of American heritage. Filled with locals and featuring good old-fashioned furniture and ambiance, I felt like I was a kid again sitting down at Grandma’s table. This place isn’t dressed up and designed to look authentic, it IS authentic. It carries the warmth and charm that can’t be bought, it can only be created by serving great food to great people, day after day, year after year. The woman who greeted us made us feel welcome and provided great service. The food came out quick.and hot. We all left happy and certain that we will back again.

I’ve had their double cheeseburger multiple times and I’ve gotta say, it’s the best I’ve had in NC at this point. They give you a hearty serving of food on top of the quality as well. I’m hoping that they stay open unlike most other places that seem to pop up, do well and disappear. This place is a gem!

Love Smokey’s! First time I ordered a burger it was to go, and when I opened the food carton at home, I thought they had given me two meals instead of one…that’s how much food you get there! Food is always tasty, and the service is great.
