It was raining today and we wanted to finally make the drive to JP LaoFood ToGo for the first time and boy were we NOT disappointed.

Food is superb! Customer service is what you expect from an Asian restaurant. The overall establishment is a reasonable size. It’s fast food almost style but the dining area is large and can sit easily 8-10 tables

Pricing was on point & serving size was generous! The side green sauce was delicious. We enjoyed the noodle soup, the Laos sausage meal with sticky rice, and lastly their amazing minced chicken plate.

We left nothing to spare and overall spent under $40 with 3 entree dishes and drinks (ordered on a second receipt)

We don’t get a lot of Laos options here in Charlotte but I’m just happy to know we have one EXCELLENT restaurant.

I also LOVE how they have quick meals to go. We ended up buying a bunch of packed meals to take home with us.

There’s a saying…. If you don’t see the children of the owners in the front area or doing something at the restaurant you might have to ask yourself if it’s really authentic. Asians are less concerned about how pretty a place is outside but more importantly the value/taste of their overall meal

Grade: A

PS: I wish we had one closer on our side of town but it’s worth the 35 minute drive or if you’re passing by near the CLT airport

I really enjoy Laotian food, so when I found out about this place I was looking forward to trying it.

Covid-19: the truck is parked outside V & K Asian Market. You can text the number on the menu photos with your order in advance. They’ll let you know what specials are available too.

We got Papaya Salad (medium spice), Chicken Larb, Beef Larb, 3 piece Lao Sausage Combo, and Sugar Cane Juice.

I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of anything. The best thing was the Lao Sausage. The Larb was very dry. The Papaya Salad was ok. I like spicy food and medium was too spicy, so I’d go way below your normal spice level.

I’ve had all of these dishes at other Lao restaurants before and loved them, I just wasn’t a big fan here.

Delicious Lao food! Sticky rice was perfect, and the chili paste had just the right amount of heat. My partner has dietary restrictions and the staff was very accommodating. I had the #10 chicken on a stick with sticky rice and chili paste. Very glad we stopped in!

Drove all the way down from SC Columbia to come get some food here and it is absolutely ridiculously delicious. The chicken wings were my favorite. You can’t beat southeast Asian chicken wings they are the best.

I am newer to Charlotte and have felt the absence of decent East Asian and Southeast Asian food. I found JP Food To Go a year or so to go and they have gone far to the void. They are situated on the side of V&K Asian Market. V&K is located just north side of I-85 on the west side of the road just passed (or before, depending on your directional approach) thr median. They have a variety of traditional Lao dishes that are made to order. You can also order your spice level by the number of chili peppers added to the dish (for reference, JP’s medium = 2 peppers, I would assume adjusted for western palates). V&K is a great place to bide your time while your food cooks as well: get your rice, vegetables, spices, even frozen Lao sausage inside. I have returned time and time again and will continue to come back.

1st time here! It’s excellent and fresh. I only had one bite of both my hot wing and some of the lo mein. When I return I want to try the sausage. Low key location great for lunch✅✅✅ ..later back to my plate!

Great price, used to be $5 a dish but has gone up to $7 for most. Quality is great! Great menu for a food truck. Wait time can be long due to high order. We usually text in our order ahead of time. Don’t always have every item as soon are limited, while supply last.

Small parking. I usually park at the other lot and walk down. On busy street.

One of the best food trucks in town. All the food is fresh and delicious, not expensive. Great fried rice, lo mein, wings, the Laos sausages are the BOMB, don’t miss the spring rolls!

2023 Update: It’s JP Lao Kitchen now. No more food truck. Everything looks good in the new space. Plenty of seating. Expanded menu. Great to-go options available. Unfortunately, the iced coffee was not hitting the same when I went yesterday. Not as strong and too milky compared to the food truck coffee offering.

Original: I LOVE JP ToGo. Well worth the trip. GET THE ICED COFFEE!
