We ordered a honey baked ham for Thanksgiving. The instructions recommend not to heat the ham because the honey glaze is already on and the ham is pre-cooked. Simple enough, but the result was unsatisfying. The glaze has coated the spiral cut ham like a hard candy shell and when you try to carve it up into pieces, the glaze just crumbles and falls off the ham, so none of the slices have any of the intended glaze at all. If you tried to warm the ham in the oven, the glaze would melt off and burn. The thick glaze shell has also solidified to the point that it would be like biting through a Jolly Rancher. Is this really the intended result?
Don’t get me wrong, the ham itself was good. But there was no honey baked glaze left after carving. Weird.

I was given a different price over the phone on a whole smoked turkey and the manager wouldn’t honor it. I showed her the time I called which was only a few hours earlier. The store manager was unpleasant and unhelpful. It was only $5 difference so I paid it anyway, but something they should’ve fixed since their employee gave me wrong info. This was a $90 purchase, easily could’ve been resolved in my opinion. Really poor service at this location.

Placed a pickup order online, picked up in the “orders” line with just a QR code scan. Super easy and fast. Cute and clean interior. A little spendy, but the hams are great.

I am not much of a ham user however, this is not ordinary. It is spectacular. I stop by to get a pound of slices often. The staff is warm and welcoming.

The ham was wonderful and the service great. There is one huge problem though and that is the price. We bought a half a ham and it was a $100 ham. We did have a gift certificate that we used up which helped. I doubt we will but another ham there because of the price. The cost person was because we had six people that are from the ham.

I first bought a pound of prepackaged ham from the Roseville location, and it was great! The rinds were cut off, and there was a lot of meat and little fat. I went back for more, but went to the Minnetonka location this time since it is closer to my house. The ham had rinds but was otherwise OK. The next time I purchased ham, I went back to the Roseville location, and this time the ham had rinds and there were several big hard chunks of the brown sugar crust, which I thought was gross! Went yesterday to the Minnetonka location and purchased ham with the rinds on, and the meat was fatty and the lowest quality I’ve ever had. The potato salad also tasted weird, and there were bright yellow potatoes mixed with pale white potatoes, like they had blended an old batch with a new one. For the prices they charge, I expect better! Since every time I go, it’s subsequently gotten worse, I am not planning on going back.

What’s the one thing you want went you go out for lunch besides good tasting food?
Service. Fast cheerful service.
Anyone can make a turkey sandwich. Not everyone can make it taste good and then give you a side of delicious potato salad with it.
You walk in hungry, and there they are, waiting for you; ready to make your sandwich. Sure it’s called the Honey Baked Ham Company, but the make the best tasting turkey sandwich you ever had.
The place is spotless, the menu easy enough to read and the cans of pop are ice cold.
If you’re hungry and don’t want to wait, walk far or study a confusing menu go to Honey Baked Ham. It will become your go-to spot first, for a fast, fresh friendly, food oasis.
