The most stunning feature are the two vaults, one perfect for a date night, secluded, romantic, or perfect for a girls catch up. (Make resos!) The second is great for a conference room or birthday party (the penny floor is beautiful).
I was expecting standard pub fare and since this was my first time stuck with the fish and chips. (I split with a gf hence the halved fish on the plate). It was a perfect lunch size but what really wowed me was the plating (see pic) the tartar sauce was obviously homemade and not from a bottle. It was all hot and so yummy. Our server, Susie was lovely, very friendly and engaging.
I’m clearly easily pleased because I loved the glassware here. The wine glasses especially are simple but elegant. Not your usual pub wineglasses. They have a nice selection of wines, cocktails, mocktails and beers.
Apparently the Vault is under new ownership and while we weren’t familiar with the old owners we had a chance to meet the new one and he was lovely, friendly and let us know he’s made some small but significant changes (some extra tv’s, painted floor etc.)
All in all I think I’ve found a great new gathering place!
Lots of cool appetizers and mains. We had the Gioza dumplings to start. They were really good, deep fried and serve on a platter with a sweet chili sauce and chopped green onions. A perfect crispy treat.
Mains were the Chef’s burger w/fries & gravy for me, and Carol had the wings with the homemade Honey/ranch/heat sauce with sweet potato fries.
Both were excellent, with a 3 onion rings bonus in the Cheeseburger, as well as the homemade dill dipping sauce for the Sweet Potato Fries!
Finished up with the most amazing Creme Brulee, sweet, creamy, with a vanilla blast for great flavour, and just the right burn to harden the top.
Fun place for a casual dinner out, or a cleansing ale at the bar. We’ll be back, and certainly recommend you give it a try. It won’t disappoint.
It was nice to be able to get a beer from the town of Whitby itself.
The washrooms were clean. While getting there you could see two other rooms where you could be seated and they both have doors like a vault would have. It was interesting because it has a link to the restaurant name.
The waitress was very kind. She managed very well her service despite of being alone at the bar and to serve all the customers in the restaurant.
There’s a group of us ladies that have been going there quite often almost weekly so we know the menu well. And honestly all the food is very good and reasonably priced.
