Amazing oyster spot. The oysters were super fresh, juicy, and tasted incredible. You can tell they are high quality and carefully selected. The owner is very friendly and handsome, and he prepares everything fresh on the spot, which makes it even better to watch and enjoy. Great food, great vibe, and definitely worth coming back again. Highly recommended.

Reality?
Their staff treats customers like inconveniences.
Saturday, February 28, 2:30 PM:
I approached the register after buying drinks all afternoon. It was my turn. The line was clear.
The server; a man with a long, bushy beard, looked directly at me, then turned to the guy behind me: “For you, so-and-so.”
I spoke up: “What happened?”
His response: “It doesn’t matter, dude. It doesn’t matter, dude. What do you want?”
Aggressive. Dismissive.
I left without ordering.
The problem:
You can’t claim European refinement while your staff sneers “It doesn’t matter, dude” at paying customers.
You can’t partner with abuse survivor charities while making customers feel dismissed.
Was I skipped because I’m gay? Because I’d had drinks? Because the guy behind me looked “straighter”?
I don’t know. But it happened.
Grand Central Market has dozens of vendors who’d appreciate your business.
The Oyster Gourmet isn’t one of them.
Beautiful branding. Ugly service.
Won’t be back.

That’s the lobster roll sandwich for $30. And yes, that is a normal sized lemon slice next to it. It was embarrassingly small. The two bites I got out of it were good, but depressing. I don’t recommend it.

Ordered 6pc fresh oysters to go. I expected the oysters to be freshly shucked when ordered like any normal oyster bars do. As I was walking away to pick up other food from the food court, the chef took out pre-shucked oysters from the refrigerator. I told him I saw that and I don’t want pre-opened oysters. He began going on with random excuses: oh these are extras, I shucked these just a few minutes ago, blah blah blah. Shady. After being firm that I don’t want those mystery oysters, he began to shuck new oysters.
They were mediocre at best.

Nice place with friendly service and very affordable, what the server recommended was amazing and just what we needed. The only think we didn’t like for the price was the paper plates and plastic utensils. Other than that everything else was nice.
