We stopped in for lunch and ended up having one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. The Lunch Box doesn’t just look charming, it delivers on every level. The food was outstanding, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every bite tasted like something that was prepared with real attention and pride, not rushed out of a kitchen.

What really made the experience even better was the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely kind. They made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. You can tell they truly enjoy what they do and that energy carries straight into the food and the atmosphere.

If you’re anywhere near Jackson, this place is absolutely worth stopping for. Great food, great people, and a great experience all around.

Jackson, Nebraska plays host to this lovely restaurant. The menu is simple, and everything on it is a winner. You’ll be met by the kindest staff you’ve ever been served by.

Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Seating is a bit limited, but people flow in and out quickly. I recommend striking up conversation with the locals, there’s a high chance you’ll make a new friend.

As small town eateries such as the lunch box die out, please go and support this establishment and the families that run it. You won’t regret it!!

These ladies are so fun and happy to see ya when you walk in. So positive and uplifting. You cant leave without a roll or two .maybe even 6 or more. The baked goods, the summer salads are my favorite but they have soups breakfasts and lunches galore. Yummy bars and ice cream treats. They really do go the extra mile to make everything so special and soo yummy. I’m still working on them to put banana split on the menu. Maybe someday I hope!! Great food and great people.

An amazing place to get ice cream, food, or coffee. Well worth the trip out to Jackson Nebraska, we went all the way to Ponka as well for a beautiful trip to the state park. I will definitely be visiting again, and am very interested in catering from the Lunchbox. The Cinnamon Rolls are the best I have ever eaten, even topping the ones I had in Maui this year.

What a delightful little Cafe! It’s tiny. The menu is small. The coffee is amazing. The food is incredible- simple but exactly like Grandma made it. The service is friendly, accommodating and fast. The place is immaculate. What an unexpected surprise! Ditch the corporate chains and search out the mom & pop gems!

We enjoyed a very tasty roast beef and sloppy joe sandwich (not pictured) on homemade buns, homemade potato salad, and chips /drink. We didn’t have the ice cream, but a few people came in to get milkshakes and sundaes – they looked really good. Its a little storefront, but they also have tables outside. We will be definitely be making it back to this place!

2025 Update- Still here! We stopped again on a Friday as we head “west” for the December holidays this time. Still a nice place to stop for lunch. I had a nice bowl of beef barley soup with crackers – hearty and delicious flavor. My ol’man had a bratwurst with the works and potato salad..he said it was real good and almost too much to eat!
Thank you, ladies for the hospitality again!! Support Small Businesses!

Saturday Lunch Stop- when traveling, always stop in the smaller towns! Taking Historic Hwy 20 and came thru Jackson, NE after crossing the River from Iowa. The Lunch Box popped up on the map and this worked perfect! Besides the normal menu, today was Sausage Gravy and Biscuits and Beef Barley Soup I had the soup and my ol’man had the Sausage Gravy and Biscuits…DELICIOUS!! Both were served Piping Hot! And ample servings to boot! The soup hit the spot as right now I am on the end of a “bad cold”….We took a bread pudding to go, because it is made out of their famous cinnamon rolls- I snuck a taste before going out the door and this is how bread pudding is done well, my tummy is happy. Thank you for the welcoming smile, friendly and caring atmosphere. Well done!
