What a great find in Cañon City! Visiting from Texas, and we felt right at home with a complete cajun menu.
We started by sharing a boudin ball with cilantro lime cream sauce and a mustard sauce. Outstanding. The boudin ball was so large, it was thr perfect sharable.
My wife and I both had the seafood platter, and weren’t disappointed inshareable. The shrimp and catfish were both fried perfectly, and came with a variety of dipping sauces. The spicy remoulade and house-made tartar sauces were our favorites. Their ‘sides’ would be features on any other menu. The sausage/chicken gumbo and jambalaya were outstanding!
The staff were super-friendly! Marcus and Kelli were genuine and made us feel like they had known us fpr years from the moment we walked in.

Can’t wait to go back and try a bunch of the other things on their menu.

Best food in Colorado with large portions and it’s not expensive. Anytime I’m in the area I go out of my way to get their food. Highly suggest everything on the menu. The couple that owns the place are amazing people. Can’t wait to go back again!

If I could give this place a 20 star I would. It’s the Cajun food that you didn’t know you needed, with the same flavors you get in the south. Their smoked fried chicken wings were some of the best wings I’ve ever had. The staff/owners were what you would expect from a family from New Orleans. Top 5 best restaurants in my book.

Thank you Marcus, Kelli and Kiddo Summerfords.

✨ Off the Beaten Path in Colorado ✨

While we’ve been here in Colorado — training on the trails, getting our minds right, and healing a little more each day — we decided to step off the beaten path and explore.

Out of nowhere, we find this little Cajun spot tucked right into the mountains. I wasn’t expecting coonass food in the middle of Colorado, I’ll be honest. But my husband, being who he is, checks the reviews and says, “Love, it’s got amazing ratings. We gotta try it.”

So we walked in…
and y’all…
and renowned Chief Marcus straight out of New Orleans. Wow what a treat and friendly as can be. Felt like I knew him forever.

One bite in and it took me right back to the French Quarter — back to that first time I ever tasted real gumbo. That deep, rich, soulful flavor you can’t fake and you can’t forget.

Good food really does heal the soul.
And on this journey — training, breathing, healing, learning — we’re reminded that the people who prepare that food all carry their own stories, their own battles, their own magic… if you just take the time to listen.

Thank you for the mouthwatering, soul-hugging food.
I’ll write Triple D myself if I have to.

Sometimes the best parts of the journey are the unexpected ones. ♾️ #TrueGritFederation #ConnerDeanRice

Wow! From the minute we walked in the door, we knew we found a gem. The owners were the friendliest folks, and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend.

I had a Shrimp po boy that was MASSIVE. I couldn’t help myself when the chef sat it in front of me. I said “WOW!” He immediately replied, “That’s nothin, back home you’d probably have some cornbread and gumbo on the side” Haha!

My wife had the seafood plate with fried catfish and fried shrimp. Gumbo and rice and beans on the side. Again, did not disappoint,. Perfect breading on the catfish.

Oh and we went for the Boudin Ball. Too many ingredients I don’t remember. Let’s just say we left stuffed full and already planning when we can stop back in.

Great place! We accidentally walked in before they were open and both people running the place were so kind, still served us and were really personable! Amazingggg food, I can definitely tell these guys brought some New Orleans into our small town in Colorado. Deserves all the praise they get!

We had a gift card and went in for lunch. We got a quart of gumbo, quart of jambalaya, an order of the sausage & red beans, and a Boudin ball. All of it was amazing. I can’t recommend Homer’s enough. The owners were the nicest people, and the food was still hot when I got back home. Can’t wait to go back.

Great food, Great Service, Great Prices. My wife had the Killian, homemade pimento cheese, bacon, grilled in sourdough bread and loved it. I had The Alejandro, an Anthony Boudin Chimichanga smothered in Crawfish Ettoufee that was delicious. Don’t let the location fool you, you will find some first class dining at very reasonable prices.
