With that said, lets get in to Namaste. Originally I thought that Kearney was going to lose one of the best restaurants it has ever had, which was Himalayan. I am unsure what happened with all of that business, but we now have Namaste.
Which is good.
Anyways, the place hasnt changed too much from the dining experience. It looks like they may have added some extra tables. All the carpet has been removed, and we are left with tile, some new wall art, 3 new light fixtures, and a nice little area at the front for the employees.
Ordered the typical order, and noticed that the extra spice shakers that used to be on the table for Himalayan are not here, which kind of is a let down to be honest. Its nice to get your order and then be able to add more spice to it if need be.
Our food came out relatively quickly, which is good. Though im really worried that the kitchen still might suffer with doordash orders in the future.
With our typical order, we noticed something.. the Garlic Cheese Naan seems to have got better.
It was very fluffy and stuffed full of cheese. Like a grilled cheese that had a ton of cheese put in to it and it was so much it melted out the side. I honestly hope this wasnt a fluke because how it was made today was almost absolutely PERFECT.
The curry wasnt watery (which honestly i dont think ive ever had that problem at the previous business either).
So here’s the few things that did kind of hit us negatively though.
First, they dont have any tint to their windows at all and also have no curtains either. When I was in there, it was absolutely BLINDING at times if I didn’t sit my head properly in the dining room.
The now exposed tile too makes it even worse.
Another thing too, is that the front door has a seal issue and gives off a terrible almost constant whistle if the door is placed just right which you can hear across the restaurant.
The light fixtures are low and just dont fit the rest of the building too, but I want to believe that they’re going to randomly be takeout only for a week and then update the building even more.
It seems that they want to go for a calmer, more relaxed environment to enjoy food in which is appreciated but as I stated before with Himalayan that they could have had nothing on the walls for decorations and left it as is and I would still love eating there.
Its the food that makes the business, not the looks.
The food was great though. Everything absolutely fresh and exactly how I hoped it would be and more when it comes to the food.
If they can install some one way privacy film on the windows that would get rid of most of their light problem, especially if they do that with some curtains. In the meantime though they could probably also just raise the lights so the sun isn’t so overpowering.
I dont want to compare them to the old business to be honest and I hope they succeed, because they deserve it.
