Disappointed.
I was expecting great things because of the summary. I didn’t see it.

We ordered two, 2 meat plates that had brisket, ribs, pulled port, and jalapeño- cheddar sausage.

The sides we sampled were collars, mac n cheese, baked beans, and slaw.

All of the meats were dry except for the pulled pork.
The pork was moist and had their unique flavor, but not much smoke. The lack of smoke can come from not enough during the cooking or from keeping it too long afterward.

Next best, but dry, we’re the spare ribs. We didn’t finish them. Besides the dryness, the sauce that was cooked on top of the ribs was cooked too long. Instead of caramelized, it was burnt.
The ends were dry and tough while the latest part was tender and still had a bit of moisture.

Brisket slices were from the point. It should have been impossible to dry out the point but the pitmaster succeeded. The brisket should have been the star of the show. We didn’t finish it. Do not get the brisket.

Sausage. Very tough and dry. Except for a few bites, it all went in the trash. Do not get the sausage.

Beans were the star. We rated them somewhere between great and perfect. Get the beans.

Collards also were fantastic. Do get the collards

There was nothing wrong with the slaw. It tasted cool, fresh, and had some crunch too it. I personally did not care for the strong tasted of celery seed in it, but you may like that.

Mac n Cheese was a fail. It was not warm, and when you tried to get some on the fork, it picked up the whole portion. Don’t get the Mac n cheese.

We went there during dinner on a Saturday with the mindset that this would be when the meat is fresh. I hope to go back one day just to find out if we caught them on a bad day.

We stopped by Jim ’N Nick’s BBQ during a short layover, and it turned out to be such a wonderful experience — especially on Valentine’s Day.
Cedric took amazing care of us. He was attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful throughout our visit. Even though we didn’t have much time, he made sure everything was seamless and enjoyable.
Cassie, the manager, also came by and shared how their food is made from scratch and truly prepared with love. You can absolutely taste that passion in every bite. She even introduced us to one of their seasonings and gifted us some to enjoy at home — such a generous and memorable touch.
For a quick layover stop, we felt incredibly well taken care of. Exceptional service, great food, and heartfelt hospitality. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in town.

Food was good I got the Jim’s Combo with pulled chicken and pulled pork. Very moist and seasoned well. I love that they use hard work to cook with which made good smokey favor but not overwhelming. They little cheddar muffins were awesome!!! I got the baked beans, coleslaw and my husband had the ribs with his combo. We also go 6 wings which was very moist and flavorful. I wish they would improve on the drive thru which we waited almost 20 minutes and you get your drinks when they collect your payment, so by the time you get your food your drink is gone or watered down. Staff were very friendly and professional. Would go back again if I’m up that way and have a taste for BBQ. I forgot to take photo before we ate. This combo was $23 and I had enough for 2 meals.

We visited on a busy Saturday and the indoors dinning was almost completely full, drive thru was lined up in 2 lines…
We managed to get thru the order line quickly and our food did not take long at all!
I was very impressed with the staff. They were very tentative and easy to locate if we needed anything, often checking on our table as they passed by.
Food was good and I do suggest you try the loaded Mac and cheese. I was not as impressed with the pulled pork plate as it didn’t stand out and could have used a little more shredding from the outside, but it was not bad at all still. Cheesy biscuits are a must!!!

From the first time walking in the door when they first opened. I try my best to come here once or twice a week. John today along with Makayla is reason you would keep coming back. Their hospitality is definitely welcoming. Checking to make sure that my experience is up to standards! Thank you and I will definitely be back!! From the brisket, ribs, bbq, wings, turkey you cannot go wrong with anything you choose! Don’t forget those cheese biscuits. Here are a few pics from my previous visits. Dont forget to add a Banana Pudding it’s so good.

Short wait time even in busy hours. Hot fresh food smaller portions for the price and high price overall. Service for a place like is way above average. The mac and cheese is hands down the better in the area. Brisket also really good worth trying out. It won’t be my go to but every now and then is really recommended to give it a try.

Everyone has an off day, but for $32 -33, that doesn’t include a drink, I don’t think I could risk ordering the same meal again.

I tried Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q (106 E Blackstock Rd, Spartanburg, SC) for the first time today and ordered the beef brisket (chopped and lean), macaroni and cheese, collard greens, cheese biscuits, and banana pudding to go. (Drive through)

The brisket was the biggest letdown, because I LOVE brisket, so I know good brisket. Even though I requested “lean”, when I got home, to dive in, it was overly fatty. I kept picking through it trying to find the meat, but eventually gave up. My husband pushed through his portion, but it wasn’t enjoyable for him either.

The mac and cheese looked a little questionable at first, looked not very cheesy-looking. After further evaluation, It was cooked, and the base/blend was a cheese sauce, but it didn’t have that creamy, rich flavor I was hoping for. Just okay.

The collard greens actually had a nice smoky flavor and were seasoned well, but they had a lot of stems left in them, and giving a pork after taste , which made them less enjoyable to eat, and I tossed them out.

The cheese biscuits were a pleasant surprise! They’re not like Red Lobster’s, but they hold their own. Slightly sweet at first, almost like Jiffy cornbread, and you can see bits of cheese in every bite. I’d definitely eat those again.

The banana pudding, it’s a firm… no. The first thing I tasted was all whipped cream. When I finally got to the pudding part, one spoonful was enough for me. It just didn’t taste like banana pudding should for me.

Overall, I appreciate the effort that goes into barbecue, and trimmings. But, for the price, I expected better consistency.

My husband and I tried Jim N Nick’s at another location. We haven’t been to the one in Spartanburg since opening, so we thought we’d give it a try, horrible mistake. My husband ordered the catfish with two sides, which was $15. The food he received should NOT cost $15. He got a small piece of fish, and two sides which look like children sized sides. He said his food was okay, but extremely overpriced for what he got. I got the Pitmaster Nacho Platter, another horrible mistake. The platter is very large, so you could easily share between two, if it was worth it. The chips were slightly warm, the shredded cheese was not melted (at all) and the brisket was VERY VERY salty. I could not eat much of it. The only decent thing we got was a Southern Peach cocktail. It was good, but as I watched the bartender make it after touching the shaker, liquor bottles, etc., she grabbed a lemon for my drink bare handed, then put it back in the container and grabbed another, and put it in my drink. Overall, we definitely will not be back. We spent $58 for barely any food. I’m quite disappointed since the other location we’ve tried was much better.

I like the fact that it is not freezing in this place like most restaurants. Overall, our experience here was good!
Makayla was our server and she did a great job on making sure we were comfortable.
The price kinda threw me for a loop but we haven’t ate out in a while and we enjoyed ourselves!
Their sauce is soooo good and flavorful, the mac and cheese was on point and very cheesy but the brisket was mostly fat and the meat we did taste was pretty good!
