What a remarkable find! Don’t let the inconspicuous motel location throw you off, as Sawaan Thai is a gem. Our group of 6 ordered lots of food, including Thai classics like Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Mango sticky rice, and more. All the dishes were delishious, presented well, and had generous portions. The service was quick and friendly. Would love to come back one day!

The food at Sawaan Thai tasted okay, but it wasn’t anything particularly special. It was fine for a casual meal, but nothing really stood out or made the experience memorable.

What did stand out, unfortunately, was the corkage fee. Charging three dollars per person feels excessive, especially when most places charge per bottle or keep the fee modest. It’s hard to understand how a per‑head charge is justified when all that’s required is opening a single bottle and providing a couple of glasses. It left us feeling more penalised than appreciated.

Overall, the meal was serviceable, but the corkage policy really overshadowed the experience.

Went there just picking a Thai restaurant in Batemans Bay area. Place was busy. Food was great. From simple tasty Spring Rolls to the Crunchy Pad Thai Chicken. Wonderful. Will recommend and be coming back.

Food ok but the serving with the beef stir fry mostly just veggies & sauce. They even charge you 10% pubic holiday surcharge which is 31st of december is not even a public holiday

We visited Sawaan to celebrate our daughters birthday and this place was very hit and miss.

Atmosphere: 1/10 The place felt bland, didn’t smell very nice and had zero Thai vibes.

Some dishes tasted amazing but portion size were very small hardly enough to satisfy one person let alone share which was very disappointing. We left unsatisfied with our meal.

Food Flavour:
Massaman Beef: 10/10
Cashew Nut Chicken: 10/10
Garlic Prawns: 1/10

Serving portion: 2/10

The food tastes just like traditional Thai dishes—flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great experience. Highly recommend!

The best Thai food I’ve ever had. I’ve been to Thailand multiple times and love their food. This place is epic. We got takeaway and choose two of the chefs specials, one prawn dish and one pork belly. Two starters and fried rice. Absolutely delicious. We will be back.

Have been to this restaurant two nights in a row and going again. The food is amazing and the staff are so nice.
I’ve eaten in a lot of restaurants in a lot of places and I rate this in the top 5. True authentic Thai food that has flavours that dance in your mouth. Do yourself a favour and go there.
Try the Prawn Miang Khamas entree and A13 Crispy Fried Red Snapper topped with Lemongrass. Had other dishes but those two are to die for. Unbelievably delicious
And stay at The Quays Hotel which is also great, as the restaurant is upstairs

We had 2 chefs specials: BBQ prawn $28 where the sauce was tasty but we only got 2 prawns which was disappointing; pork belly which had a tasty sauce but way too salty. This was not in the busy school holiday period either. Not in a hurry to go back
