Medina is an intimate, neighborhood cocktail bar. Think of her as Maydan’s little sister. Serving craft cocktails and a wine list inspired by the islands of the Mediterranean. Eat and drink here any night of the week under a tented roof for a casual meal or visit us for a nightcap after dinner at Maydān. Just remember, you’re in for surprises as this is a place where there is more than meets the eye.

Overall a great experience.

Seating is a weird mix of couches and tables and people sitting at the bar.

If you’re there for drinks then sitting at a couch with a low table is fine, but we ended up having appetizers and multiple courses while seated on a couch at a low table – – so if you want a formal table, then be sure to ask for it.

Service was great! Very attentive, despite being very busy.

They have a number of specialty cocktails, but a full bar that can make regular cocktails as well.

Tip was auto-included for a party of 6 … not sure if that’s DC standard or not.

The ‘Tawle tasting menu’ ($95 each) seemed a bit overpriced to us so we went with the tasting menu – and were very pleased with that.

Recommended dishes (from my evening)

Chicken Tangine
Lamb Shishkabobs
Roasted Carrots (a standout dish!)
Hummus (and they are very genius with some very tasty flat bread)
Dango chickpeas (nice and spicy)
Halloumi (*a must-get)
Chocolate mousse desert
Mint Tea

Huvac carrot dip and the Zucchini appetizer were both kind of bland, and the scallops were ok. I’d skip all three and focus on other options.

I’ve been to Maydan years ago and loved it. We went to Medina because they had an opening. Our waitress was great, she really took time to explain the menu and help with recommendations. We felt like the value for what we got was great, everything was delicious.. especially literally all the dips, the lamb, the mushrooms and the shrimp. As a group of 4, we spent maybe 50-70 dollars each (some people drank, some didn’t). This felt like a way better deal than the set menu tbh.

It’s an intimate setting, perfect for smaller groups or date nights. Very vibey haha

The date dessert was a bit disappointing, it’s a load of dates with super sweet sauce.. we’d skip that next time!

We had a truly wonderful dinner at Medina, the sister restaurant to Maydan, and the entire experience—from start to finish—was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented, and the service throughout the evening was warm, attentive, and welcoming without ever feeling overbearing.

What truly set Medina apart, however, was what happened after our meal. With all the snow and ice that night, I slipped outside and unknowingly dropped my phone. I didn’t realize it was missing until later and called the restaurant, hoping it might have been found. Instead of a simple “we’ll keep an eye out,” two staff members went back out into the cold, searching through the snow until they found it. When I picked it up the next morning, they wouldn’t even accept a tip.

That level of kindness, care, and integrity is rare. Medina delivers not only excellent food, but truly outstanding hospitality. It was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in DC, and I can’t wait to return again soon.

Such a cute cozy vibe! I love the ambience of this restaurant.
They emphasize the importance of the overall experience. The cocktails are crafted to provide an experience. The music was fire- early 2000’s R&B. Food was fulfilling.
They offered a meat hummus which makes me drool just thinking about it. The lamb was ok but cooked well… if that makes sense.
The service was phenomenal, everyone was extremely attentive.
The only thing I didn’t like so much were the high top tables/chairs. There’s no place to put my purse! :/
Anyway, I can’t wait to be back.

The food at Medina was flavorful, and the venue itself had a great ambiance. However, there was an overpowering onion smell coming from the kitchen that made our eyes irritated, which took away from the overall dining experience. If that issue is addressed, it would be a much more enjoyable place to dine.

We enjoyed an evening of dinner and wine pairing. This was an amazing experience to hear from Lebanese wine makers and enjoy their wine paired perfectly with our meal. I’ve never had wine from Lebanon (from the sound of it, most everyone there was in the same boat). It was a wonderful dinner with wonderful wine.

Beautiful restaurant reminds me of our visit to Morocco! The service was very slow and the waiter kept disappearing but the food was really good and loved the ambiance.

I got invited to checkout Medina and I loved it! The space is so beautiful and unique. All of the drapery makes you think you’re farther away than D.C.

We got mocktails to drink (can’t remember the exact name but it was a raspberry drink). It was delicious and the perfect level of sweet. The mezze board wowed us. We just kept picking things off of it and eating lol. The branzino is a canned fish and was surprisingly tasty. When I think of canned fish, I definitely don’t think of that but we loved it. The mezze board comes with olives, tomato eggplant jam, housemade cheese, dates, apricots, figs, and these flavorful and really spicy peppers (loved it).

We also had the roasted beets. It wasn’t bad, but I can’t say the ingredients are one’s I like in general, so there’s that. My friend really liked it though.

Now the star of the show: the lamb tagine. It was almost like a lamb stew. So tender and delicious. Flavor on it was perfect. One thing I love about Medina is all the flavors they incorporate, like mint, citrus, tahini, etc. Literally flavor in every bite.

The service was also very good and everyone was so nice.

So fun ! I loved the decor and the vibe of the place. I had the Medina old fashioned and the Medusa both of which were great. The spicy salty foam on the Medusa is a show stopper! That drink was surprisingly fruity too. The mezze board was really delicious and large enough we probably could’ve just gotten full on that. We ordered the lamb tagine which was amazing. Their pita is really good too and tastes really fresh. It was a comfortable atmosphere and people even brought a baby that I could see at one point so seems like a good place for everyone. I feel music that’s a bit more chill would fit the space better.

This is one of my new favorite cocktail and tapas bars in DC. It’s rare to find such a casual vibe, without compromising service and excellence in food and drink. I never saw myself being impressed with popcorn… But let me list off what goes in the popcorn – toasted, sesame, cinnamon, brown butter, and orange blossom.
That same forward thinking and bold fusion creates a menu where no one is disappointed in each cocktail is an experience.
