Mambo Italiano

Social Profile:

Mambo Italianio, an authentic Italian restaurant meant to evoke the warm feeling of eating in someone’s Italian home. Both the owners — Danielle Berarducci (who’s also the chef) and Ana Rusche — have Italian roots (Berarducci from Naples and Abruzzo; Rusche from Sicily) and wanted to create something that’s a little different (Mambo is Berarducci’s nickname). That means you won’t find chicken parm on the menu but you will find stewed chicken, homemade lasagna and pastas that are either made in house or come direct from Italy. There’s no liquor license at the moment; wine and beer are to come. The 27-seat space is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Friday; and dinner only Saturday

We stepped away from the hectic streets of Sleepy Hollow into the peaceful space of Mambo Italiano and what a great choice that was! The bread, the pasta, the dessert; all of it was clearly made with love, and from scratch. It was all so delicious and our waitress was kind and knowledgeable about the food. I would highly recommend stopping by for a very delicious bit of food.

Visiting from Pittsburgh, PA and we loved this place. It’s small and cozy, and you can tell the staff and chef really take so much pride in their food and service and they do a wonderful job. The service was fast, the food was so good and so fresh, you can see the kitchen within the room so you know what you’re getting. Such a cute and well done restaurant! Would definitely return!

Love this spot so much! Came here on the way back from Nyack and got a table outside. Delicious homemade pastas made with love. Adored the mushroom-sage-butter homemade tagliatelle the most, though the lasagna was pretty good, very meaty. The desserts are off-the-charts! So tasty and creative. Loved the pavlova with strawberry sorbet and the rich pistachio ice cream. Delicious warm bread basket with sun-dried tomato butter, too. Shoutout to Ana who is so warm and had great recommendations, welcome to us and our dog! We even made friends with another diner at the restaurant and hung out together on the rainy night. Telling everybody about this place.

The other evening, six of us went to Mambo Italiano. The food and service were impeccable.
We ordered the tagliatelle, orecchiette, and two of the specials available that evening ( cod and lentil stew). The food was absolutely fantastic. Not one person was disappointed with their choice.
Ana was friendly, courteous, knew the menu and the wines very well, and she had a great sense of humor.
The setting is non assuming. Not fancy at all.
Mambo Italiano is worth trying. It doesn’t disappoint.

The environment is a bit warm — if it’s like this in the summer, we’ll probably be sweating buckets. The service is very good. The wine list is a bit pricey — a glass of Italian table wine that sells for $30 a bottle is $14 here. It’s more cost-effective to get a whole bottle if you’re with a group. The dishes are plentiful and come in large portions. The polenta with pork used to come with mushrooms, but not anymore. That said, the flavorful meat is still very satisfying — you really need wine with it, or it’s hard to digest. The mini bread rolls are great; the butter mixed with tomato sauce tastes a bit like Thousand Island dressing. We also asked for olive oil.

Came to Irvington from Bergen County to check out the pop-up holiday shop on Main Street … we ask the shop owner for some recommendations of places to eat and she recommended this amazing place! Atmosphere is warm and cozy, especially on a rainy day and the food was so fresh and delicious! We split a chopped salad It was perfect and then my friend and I split the orichetta with broccoli Rabe and sausage…. Also delicious! Ana was so friendly and made sure we were happy with our experience…. since the desserts were homemade. We decided to try one…. Rosemary, lemon olive oil cake off the charts! My only regret I left my leftover container behind …. Check this place out !

We had a lovely dinner here celebrating our anniversary! The food was fresh and carefully crafted. The owner was obviously passionate about the menu and took pride in her work. The atmosphere was cozy and warm and they are currently a BYOB, which was nice.
The food was generously portioned and delicious. My Bolognese dish was a mix of different flavors and textures with fresh homemade pasta, and ricotta cheese. The tiramisu was light and tasty – comparable to the desserts my husband enjoyed on his travels to Italy. If you’re looking for made to order, authentic Italian food – try this! You won’t be disappointed.

What a lovely place in a cute historic downtown. There is plenty of parking on the street. I was hungry and tired from driving from VA to CT. This was my last stop before getting home. The welcoming atmosphere, the friendly two ladies, co-owners, both greeted me and offered a cozy seat by the window.
The basked of crusty rolls with some yummy whipped butter, herbs and spices came immediately. The special menu was written on a scroll of paper affixed on the wall. Great idea. So easy to read and be able to order right away. Amazing crab, arugula, mango, and avocado salad… I would order that again. I had a glass of lovely Bosnian dry white wine to go with it. All around – ten stars for this restaurant. Can not wait to try their other dishes. Pity it is pretty far for me, but I will stop by any time I drive to NYC.

Last week I had lunch with a friend at Mambo Italiano, and immediately fell in love. Ana and Dani, the incredible owners, and chefs, welcomed us with open arms and amazing food. We immediately felt like family and learned quickly that each and every dish was created with thoughtful passion, deep love, and a story.

From the amazing meatballs and cauliflower steak served with homemade focaccia and cheese bread, to the absolutely perfect and light lasagna with only pecorino, and the fall-off-the-bone roast chicken with creamy polenta. The desserts were also stellar, both the tiramisu (light as a feather) and the blueberry cheesecake were a perfect ending without being overwhelming. The whole meal was both beautiful and delicious.

I highly recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner, or BOTH! Mambo Italiano is a restaurant I will return to often, both for the regular menu and all the specials I didn’t have enough room to try!

See you soon Ana & Dani! 🙂
