We stopped by Potters on Saturday morning right after the Ames farmers market. We walked in and were greeted by a wonderfully personalble employee who walked us through the menu. We ordered our food and drinks and sat down outside on their well shaded patio. The music and flowers made the spot feel super comfortable. I ordered a smoothie which had real fruit pieces in it. For food I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon that was super crispy. For a side hash browns was the obvious choice. They were well done! Crispy and flavorful with different herbs. Their fruite selection was also superb. Great little cafe!

I absolutely love Potters Eatery! It’s such a super cute spot with a cozy vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The location is perfect, and it feels like a little treat every time I stop in.

The staff are always so friendly and welcoming—it feels like they really care about their customers. The menu is huge, with so many options, whether you’re in the mood for a full meal, something from the bakery, or just a really good coffee or tea. I’ve tried a few different things and everything has been delicious.

It’s definitely become one of my favorite places in Ames. Can’t wait to go back!

We tried this beautiful place after moving our daughter out of her dorm at Iowa State. The atmosphere was great with high ceilings, an open air vibe and lovely natural lighting. The breeze coming through the large windows was so nice as we enjoyed our meal. We came for lunch and got sandwiches and salads. Bonus for us- gluten free bread . I wish I had tried a coffee as it smelled amazing, but I will definitely be returning for that next time.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service great family. Andrew and Anne are operating this wonderful place just across the street from where Andrew’s dad, H. James Potter, was editor at the Ames Tribune for many years and won many awards for journalistic excellence in the state of Iowa in service to the Ames community. Andrew and Anne continue that same tradition of excellence and service in the culinary field. It’s well worth it to venture just a block off Main Street and a block from City Hall and give them a try! Best hash browns I ever had and the breakfast menu is wonderful. That doesn’t begin to address the baked goods. Nice warm family atmosphere and you’ll leave with a warm tummy and warm heart. 🙂

Our new favorite spot in Ames! This was our second visit, and our family of four had no complaints. The food tastes as amazing as it looks. If you’re in Ames, definitely make sure to stop by – you won’t be disappointed!

Overall, the atmosphere of the establishment was inviting and cozy. The menu features a good variety of food options; however, the baked goods were limited and we were told they were not making any espresso drinks. For a $50 meal, we expected quality food, however, we were quite disappointed with what we were served. Not only did it take half an hour to be served, but the portion sizes were underwhelming, the fruit was dry, and the food was lacking in everything but saltiness. We had high expectations that unfortunately were not met. A good option for individuals who want to enjoy a cup of coffee in a friendly environment.

The first time we came to Potter’s we had a Roasted Turkey Cranberry Sandwich. It disappeared for a bit but we just came in today and saw it was back. Great sandwich and the orzo pasta salad they make is fantastic. Service is very friendly and the interior of the cafe is clean and comfortable. I suggest taking time to stop by.
