Easily the best pizza on Main Street Ventura that I’ve had so far. We got a Vodka and Sausage pizza. It was excellent. The wait was about 20 minutes at the time. They did have individual slices you can buy. I would say that the pizza is nicer quality, which also means that the price is not cheap.

We went here because a friend recommended it to us and it didn’t disappoint. The dough for the pizza itself is sourdough and you can tell from the crunch and taste that blends so well with the sauce. The toppings we chose were pepperoni and mushrooms which didn’t overpower each other but instead complemented each other really well and you could taste both individually. The sauce isn’t your usual sweet marinara sauce which is a bit hard to find out here but i prefer it. The owner was also really kind to talk to us a little bit about his journey with his establishment.

Brought the family up from Santa Barbara just to try this place bc of all the great reviews. We got a Calabrian chili pepperoni pizza w dollops of ricotta and honey drizzle as well as a few slices of plain, some with pesto, and a slice of the special, “Spring Thing” which was a white pizza with preserved lemon and spring tendrils. Oh! And some herbed olives on the side. Each item was prepared with such pristine care that I had to savor each bite. It was a refreshing way to enjoy a simple, solid slice of NY style super crispy, crusty pizza. The first few bites were so enchanting that I forgot about the ranch dressing which tasted dill-forward and certainly homemade. The ‘Plain’ was my favorite. A salty, savory slice of za topped w a freshly torn basil leaf. Perfection.
We were full when we finished, but cookies were coming out of the oven in 15 minutes so we hung around for a few which was the right choice by all accounts as they came out hot and melty, topped with flaky salt. 10/10 recommend trying this spot because it’s the only NY-style pizza I have ever found on the West coast.

So fresh and absolutely delicious, I can’t recommend them highly enough! Every single thing we’ve gotten here has been amazing, the prices are honestly comparable to other local places but the quality is just exponentially better. We put in our order, stroll down to the Mission and back, and we have an incredible pizza waiting to take home! It is quickly becoming our Friday night go-to!

After going here I don’t go to any other pizza place in Ventura. Every pizza I get here is amazing. The monthly specials are my go-to’s. I always get a whole pie and eat the rest for breakfast, it’s even better the next day. Do yourself a favor and grab a slice before you see a show at the movies. A+ Pizza

Hands down one of the best slices I’ve ever had.
Had the vegan sausage and kale and wow. I’m not even the slightest bit veg/ vegan but decided to step out of my comfort zone and I’m so glad I did. From the texture of the sausage to the flavor, this would make a believer out of the most carnivorous of carnivores. Great sauce distribution and just a kiss of cheese to round out the pie. Exquisite.
Travis makes a great pie and does so simply and elegantly. No hype. No frills. Just good, solid pizza with great quality ingredients.

I’m not a ranch guy, but I’d gladly lick the homemade ranch off a quarter ton torta’s toes. The owner is great too. Delicious.
Better than fluid state pizza, and that’s a huge compliment

The best pizza in Ventura! The sourdough crust is paper thin and so delicious, the beautiful caramelization of the topping and the crazy feature pies with flavors combinations that you would never expect to work, WORK! The Bomb!

I have eaten at Back Bench Pizza twice so far and I can’t wait to go back again! This is a small, cozy pizza place but there’s still plenty of seating inside. The owner/operator is friendly and approachable and provides excellent service. The real highlight here is the terrific pizza!!
Unbelievable homemade sourdough crust that is soft and delicious while providing stellar slices or whole pies. The sauce and cheese on the standard plain cheese is amazing as well and the pizza holds up perfectly as leftover whether heated or eaten cold. But the first pizza I tried (which I forgot to grab a pic of) was truly unique and delicious with toppings of roasted lemons that paired perfectly with a mound of fresh greens on top.
I would recommend checking in often (as I intend to do) because the owner is very creative and always presenting adventurous new specialty pizzas based on local ingredient availability.

Saw great reviews on this place and decided to stop by. Went in over the weekend and it was not as expected. They had 2 pizza offerings ONLY and they were sitting in the case cold and sad looking. The lady at the counter said they will not be making anymore pizza’s for the day (it was only 5pm) and that we could only order the slice from the case or if we did order a pizza it would be 45 mins…which seemed like an oddly long time? Really disappointed because online they had a lot of interesting options. Went down the street to Midici’s instead.
