This restaurant exceeded expectations! We sat on the back porch, and the view of the hills was nice. The antique train goes by about every 15 minutes, and there’s Partridge birds that come up expecting food. Buffalo wings were very good, and the chili and cornbread was tasty too. Good coffee. Excellent Dutch apple pie. Period music puts you in the mindset of the gold rush era. Sweet server.

Place used to have specials for Christmas New Year’s time they used to have sarsaparilla on tap they don’t no more. Put the food is still good. Drinks are served in the Mason jar still. Service was good and friendly. And the time for the food was pretty fast. So if you have a big party going up make sure you go there a couple hours before hand so they can get enough time to cook everyone’s food and you have enough time to relax and socialize.

We took a small detour to this restaurant on our road trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, and it turned out to be a great decision.
The restaurant’s old-time vibe immediately transports you to a different era. It wasn’t crowded when we visited, which made the experience even more pleasant and relaxed.
The food was delicious and arrived surprisingly quickly . Staff also provided excellent service.
If you are looking for a memorable spot with good food and a nostalgic ambiance, this place is definitely worth the stop.

Have always enjoyed stopping by the Calico Restaurant to have a nice meal while visiting the Ghost town….Always fast and very friendly service….The food is good as well as simple….Love the ambiance inside and out….Be like taking a step back in time to the 1880’s……Calico will always hold a special place in my heart from the first time we visited on a warm day in 1973 with my Dad and brother while on a road trip…..

The historical stuff alone gives this place a different feel from the rest. The food was gourmet great. Excellent classic diner with great food. Customer service was different from other diners but overall good.

We came with a very large group and basically overwhelmed the servers. They still did everything they could to keep us happy, including getting our food to us in a timely manner. Everything was as great as I could have hoped for. They were not expecting us all at once, and they handled it like champions.

Slow to get food, finally get food and we asked for more beers, they never came out. Had to eat with no drink. Then I overheard one lady say that she just poured a half one and they can have it for free. By the time she tried to give us that,it was like 10 minutes later. So we declined. Food was really good though. Took forever to get check also. The miners cage showed permanently closed so when we got to the top of the hill, they were open. They had REALLY cold beers and food menu looked good. Go eat there instead.
