Closed on a Saturday. Open until 2PM on a Sunday. These people don’t wanna work but spend on ads on YouTube and tv. Please. You’re a bakery. Open until 7PM on weekends but closed on Saturday. Who buys bread until 7PM on a weekday?

Their bread is soft and fluffy. Flavorful Kolaches. Conchas are perfect. It was nice and clean in there and the staff was friendly.

This morning was my 1st time to visit Masa Bakery. I Google searched bakery’s in Odessa and Masa Bakery popped up. As I pull up I 1st encounter the lack of parking spots. I jump the curb with my truck and parked. As I approached the entrance, I noticed a Best Bakery 2024 or 2025 sign on the door, that gave me a good feeling. As I walked in I was greeted by the lady at the counter and the smell was INCREDIBLE. I noticed I was the only customer in there which seemed odd, I expected to see more people based on the cars parked outside. I was overall pleased with the interior decor and the warm feeling I got as I walked in.

I grabbed an aluminum round tray and a set of tongs. I selected a few sugar cookies and as I started looking at the other pastries, I see what looked like a red ball with coconut sprinkled on it or something like that.

As I looked at them closer I notice something crawling on one of them. It was a COCKROACH, a small one, and it was crawling over the pastry. I opened the door and grabbed it with the tongs and took it to the counter and set it down. I told the lady there was a roach on the pastry and she just picked it up with another set of tongs and took it to the back.

My expectations were shot, I walked back to the pastry case and was going to put the sugar cookies back but couldn’t due to the angle of the shelving. So I turned and took the tray with cookies to the counter and laid it down and nicely said thank you and turned and walked out.

The owner was behind the counter this entire time, he was preparing something as the lady and I went through this ordeal, neither the owner or the lady at the counter said 1 word to me after she returned from the back. Not an I’m so sorry, an apology, or anything. They stayed silent and just looked at me as I turned and walked out.

I give fair reviews of “my” personal experiences and nothing else. I share what I experience for others to review and I felt this review was necessary.

This is in no way spiteful or to hurt the business, but to share my experience and let others including the owners know what happened in their establishment.

I was disappointed with my experience because I had high hopes and was excited to try their products. I was also disappointed that nothing was said and that they both let me walk out without saying anything to me, I wasn’t even rude or loud. I was just letting them know and I pulled that pastry out so the COCKROACH wouldn’t get away and they could verify what I saw.

If I would have just told them I saw a cockroach and then they went to look, it would have probably been gone.

For what it’s worth, this is “my” honest review of my 1st experience at Masa Bakery.

Recently visited Masa bakery and had a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was great, staff was very nice, and the sweet bread tasted amazing. Definitely recommend the cream cheese empanadas.

I DONT know why this place has LITTLE reviews and some low ones?!!!! it’s seriously delicious.
Went in for a bread for my tortas and got to say they’ve been the best I’ve found in West Texas.
They are huge, flavorful and fresh. So soft!!!!
Got a concha they looked so squishy and fresh and indeed they were. Will be back for 10 more!!! Will be posting more good quality pictures!!

I have been enjoying the sweet bread and kolaches from Masa for about a year now. Today, I finally got to try their lunch menu! The barbacoa torta was to die for!! The combo comes with thick cut fries and a drink. The salsa is perfect ❤️‍ 11/10

Found this Mexican bakery on Google maps in search for bolillos and it did not disappoint. Bread was crisp on the outside and soft inside…perfect. Tried their conchas and they were delicious. Will definitely be back to try the rest of their food and sweet bread. Would have taken some pictures but it was gone on the drive home.

First time trying their bread. The bread is ok “good” compared to some of the terrible bakeries that Odessa has to offer. However the Pan de Muerto is not made the traditional way, that I was expecting. It was made with the same flour/recipe the Conchas are made of. Pan de muerto is made with orange peel or agua de azhar (if you are able to find it). I guess the baker couldn’t find neither. The other issue that we had is that we called ahead of time to make sure the bread will be available and when we arrived it was already sold out and had to wait another hour and a half to get the bread. Miss communication on someone’s part. Other than those issued, go try the bread maybe you will like it and I’m just a person that’s used to eating amazing sweet bread from my hometown.
