The ambiance was very Maryland kitchen feel for crab lovers. The decor was one of the absolute best things about my first time visit. Upon entering there was a nasty bathroom smell that was across the entire restaurant. The young lady was very accommodating, gracious and kind. She gave me ample time to decide on my options as well as explaining the sides (bacon in the potato salad, seafood pasta salad, etc). I’ll have to look again but I only saw and tasted shrimp in the seafood salad after taking 2 or so bites. Both salads had way too much binder (mayo or…) as the photos will show. The crab cake was salty to me but the shrimp were more salty than they should have been. I brought them both back and they prepared both again. Shrimp was better but the crab cake was still salty and more shells in it than the first one. The hush puppies have corn in them which I loved and that was my 2nd favorite thing during my visit. Sadly, I won’t return but I do wish them well.

STAMP!! Frye’s Famous Wings ($14 for 6 wings with Buffalo sauce). Crispy, a non tangy Buffalo sauce…tasty!!

LIKE THAT! Their Phat Fish Sandwich ($12 with wild caught Cod, cheese, & tartar sauce). I not a fan of Cid, but it was crisp, simple, & good!!

STAMP!! Their Fried Shrimp ($ with wild caught shrimp).

STAMP!! Their Double Goliath Crab Cake Platter ($56.50 with 2 fried 8oz crab cakes, red potato-potato salad, & imitation crab pasta salad). Those cakes…HIT!! No filler, a slightly creamy binder, & all lump American sourced crab meat!! STAMP that pasta salad…it was pretty flavorful with the imitation crab!! The potato salad was just DELICIOUS.

Giving 2 stars because we got the Goliath crab cakes and was super disappointed to have a piece of the shell in each bite. For the amount we paid, I expect to have little to no shells in my crab cakes. Utterly disappointing. Took away the joy of eating the crab cakes because every bite literally had a piece of the shell. I’d rather drive the hour to Jerry’s Seafood and get my crab cakes there!

The coleslaw and potato salad were ok. Nothing to write home about. The shrimp pasta salad was AMAZING! A must try! Clam chowder is also very good!

Placed order online, arrived, walked inside, they asked am I here to pickup an order, told her the name, she found the order immediately. They just had to put the cheesecake in the bag and gave us utensils and ketchup. Absolutely no wait even though a couple walked in just before we did and had to figure out what they wanted to order. Highly recommend to order online and walk in to pickup your order. Food was good.

2 months prior, my review was as follows:

FYI, they close at 7:50pm.

Tried to place order online but was not able to complete the order, so called and told them what I wanted. When I arrived, a nice woman employee helped me by entering my order one of the two kiosks and I used my phone for to pay. Food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this brand. The young guy working at the location in Manassas told me about this one and so glad he did. In one day, had their crab cake in Manassas and the other made in Ashburn
well.

If you are in the ashburn area, or if you are all the way in Alaska it is worth making the trip to fryes crab cakes. I am a well seasoned seafood eater and I have never had such fresh seafood that is served here. The customer service was top notch and the staff made me feel like I was amongst long time friends. The menu offers great deals for a couple of diners, as well as large quantity box deals to accommodate the largest of parties at an excellent price. It has been close to a decade since I have had a restaurant that has made this strong of an impact on me, and I have never had a restaurant that has compelled me to leave a review. With that being said come to fryes famous crab cakes and see for yourself!

For the price, it’s alright. The price could very well be good for crab cakes with little filler (as they advertise) but for how much food there is in the area, I’d rather go elsewhere. The food tasted pretty okay but I found at least 5 larger bits of shell in a half of a crab cake. The hush puppies were surprisingly good and I enjoyed tater tots (but definitely not picky when it comes to those…they could very well be freezer tots and I wouldn’t notice). The crabs were definitely crabby and they were decent, but nothing to write home about, imo. Sadly, I enjoy peeling crabs and homemade crab cakes more than this meal.

It was also very empty on a Thursday night. My husband and I wanted to try this but my kids weren’t interested so I visited a few other restaurants in the same shoping center which were all busy. This restaurant is relatively new so that could be why it was empty, but I would think it’s mostly the pricing. It was so empty, the girl who was working didn’t hear me come in or hear when I called “hello” twice before trying to get her attention by peering into the back and waving (over the counter). Guessing it’s a regular occurrence.

Hoping they find a way to improve in whatever way is needed so that they can be busy and successful in the Ashburn area.

Went opening day. Very delicious. Crab cakes were generous, minimal filler. 2x 5oz cakes was a lot, next time I’ll try the 8oz single jumbo. Also want to come back to try the clam chowder. Great addition to Ashburn Eats.

A little shop focused on crab cakes and sandwiches in a little strip mall. $21.50 for one, $36.50 for two plus two sides. The cole slaw, potato salad, and hushpuppies are solid.

Crabcakes are good, not the most crab I’ve seen in a crabcake, but still a good ratio. Bathroom signs are funny. Salad is a slow one to make… but done fresh given how little they sell of it?

Small tables and some outside tables, too.
