Had a reservation for 7 got here at 6:45 was seated right away, then waited 35 mins to have my drink order taken. Patio had about 30 people seated and only 1 waiter… Not good for service. Took about an hour to take our dinner order. Finally another waiter showed up and apologized for the long wait – bought our drinks. The food was very good, but need to be well staffed on a Saturday night…service is a big deal for me…please get more help!!!

Super cool place, great prices, great food. The atmosphere is where this place really shines. I moved a block away and when I went in I was treated by the owner, even had a shot with him. Everyone knows everyone and the gelato is made in house and is delicious! I look forward to going back!

We went for our first time tonight and we very happy all the way around. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We met one of the owners, Frankie, and he bought us dessert, which was out of this world. We will be back.

Fantastically tasty Italian restaurant with a loud but fun crowd, awesome service and just great Italian eating. My faves are steak, Penne in vodka sauce, and Bruschetta! Melrose Park is lucky to have this wonderful place. Full bar too, plus patio.

They have great food, drinks, and coffe i live not to far and i go there about 2 times a week sometimes 3 if im off on fridays. The wood burning oven pizza is great they came made whatever you want or have one of there specialty. Go and give them a try

My name is Eric, me and my girlfriend Lori stopped in to il Poveretto Cafe to have some lunch. We have never been there before nor are we normally in Melrose Park. I wanted to check out my possible new job location down the road so we decided to have lunch. When we walked in they actually told us they only are open for dinner but Franki told us to stay and have a drink. He then told us he would make us whatever we wanted to eat he insisted. We stayed and were taken care of like we were family. The food tasted scratch made after leaving that was all we talked about. Thank you Franki we will definitely be back and i highly recommend il poveretto cafe to anyone. 5 stars for sure
