Born and raised in South Philadelphia, cheesesteaks are a big part of our lives. Our family owned a few restaurants in the city, including one on 5th & and South, which is a very popular strip packed with different cultures of food and shops. Growing up, we learned so much about the craft and culture of authentic food from those experiences. We are excited to bring our South Philly roots & extensive experience in the steak business to you in Maryland!

I didn’t even know about this til yesterday. Always wished there was a legit steak sub spot around Catonsville. Let me say this was one of the best steak subs I’ve had in a while. The price was a little high $25 for a sub and fries but it was totally worth it. My sub was packed with meat and the meat it self was fresh, and the amount of fries I got for $5 which were also good. I did go Friday around 4pm so I didn’t hit the rush, its definitely worth a try.

After watching all the videos and reading the reviews, I decided to make the drive from Reston, VA to try what many are calling the best cheesesteak in the DMV. I have to say — the hype is real. The food was absolutely delicious.
My son ordered the chicken cheesesteak with cheese fries, and I went with the classic cheesesteak topped with Cooper’s Sharp cheese. It was flavorful, juicy, and very filling. I could only finish half of mine while sitting in the car — the portions are serious.
Keep in mind, this is a food truck, so don’t expect indoor seating. But it’s definitely worth the drive — and the mess you might have to clean up in your car afterward.

Had a great first time experience over the weekend. Subs where stuffed and tasted great! Loved the seeded bread! Egg rolls could be a bit crisper but delicious nonetheless.

These guys make the best cheesesteak in Baltimore in my opinion. I lived in Philly for five years and this tasted like a true Philly cheesesteak. I ordered The 9th which comes with Whiz, and an order of cheese fries. We brought camping chairs and ate them in the parking lot.

5th & steaks makes a mighty fine cheesesteak. This was my second visit and they’re 2 for 2. Today I had The 5th. It comes on a seeded roll with cooper sharp and sautéed onions. It’s a plenty big sandwich.
When I arrived there weren’t any customers and I was told the sandwich would be ready in 15 minutes As this was my second visit I was aware there would be a bit of a wait. I’ve been to many cheesesteak places and that’s about average. My sandwich came out hot, fresh and delicious, which is what I was looking for. This place probably isn’t the play if you’re trying to pop in and out to grab something on your lunch break. If you’re in the mood for a cheesesteak on your lunch break, there’s always Arby’s .
The service won’t wow you but the folks are cordial.

What!?? I immediately locked the location into my brain and planned to try one ASAP.
Today was the day.
On my way home from visiting my daughter in Catonsville, I stopped by the Rolling Road location to see if they were open on a Sunday — and they were. Yes! I pulled into the plaza; a few people were already waiting. I noticed the ordering kiosk and went ahead and placed my order.
While the kiosk itself is easy to use, the descriptions of the different steak subs weren’t clearly displayed, so I couldn’t really see what came on each one. I decided to go with “The 5th.” There was no option to pick my toppings, so I just let it fly and hoped for the best. Staff was busy and the window stayed closed, so I didn’t get to ask questions.
The wait was about 15 minutes.
They do offer online ordering for pickup and delivery, and honestly — it’s much better to order ahead. The menu is way easier to read online, and you can see exactly what’s on each sub.
Now for the flavor…
I was sorely disappointed. It was far too salty, and I could not taste the ribeye steak flavor at all. Truthfully, the cheesesteaks I’ve made at home using Steak-umms were better — and that’s saying something.
I’ll give them one more shot, because I really wanted this to be great. But if the next experience falls short again, well… that’s that.

Happy I got to try this out. I got the Spicy Jawn, it wasn’t bad. Next time I’ll get a sandwich with provolone not really of fan of cheese wiz or sauce. The sandwiches are massive, can easily feed two people. FYI, IF YOU ORDER FRIES, THEY LITERALLY CAN FEES 5 PEOPLE. They give you a whole tub of fries. Also saw a Philadelphia Philly fan here, so I guess it’s legit.

The wait was 53 minutes. When I arrived several people were waiting to pick up their orders. The people at the window had just called #82. I placed my order and my it was #93. I waited 53 minutes until my order was called and several people who ordered after me had already received their food. I ordered 2 subs, the 5th and a order of fries.
I waited there 53 minutes and heard order numbers higher than my number being called. I also witnessed someone bring back their food because it was the wrong order. Around a dozen people were waiting for there order to be called.
Unwrapping the sub, I thought it looked good but the cheese is not provolone like I ordered. I pick up the sub and the bottom is hard like a cracker. I take a bite and it was clear the cheese was not provolone. The second sub that was not mine was correct and the bread was not scorched on the bottom.
I can forgive absurd wait times but when orders higher than yours are called beforehand, and it looks like they have one item, that’s not good customer service. Especially if the order is wrong, burnt, and a mix of old/ older refried fries.
I will not be coming back. Hopefully the food, food accuracy, and service will get better.

Decided to make a stop since I was in the area. The time to order until it was done was around 15 minutes. They definitely cook to order.
I got the jawn and 5th with cooper. Both came out nice and hot. Roll measures 11”, though they missed the last two inches to put in some gooey goodness.
I’d compare it overall with cheesesteak & Co. in elkridge.
More and more good spots finally coming to Maryland.

I happened to see a post about this spot on Facebook, and I’m so glad I did! I don’t know much about Philly cheesesteaks (I get cheesesteaks often but not Philly style), but this sandwich is really good! Filling, flavorful and the length of forearm!
Edit: Went back the next day and got subs for my family. Got the loaded fries and they were SO good!
