Casual place with excellent, freshly made Mexican food. Extensive menu. Everything we tried was delicious. Complimentary chips and three salsas came to the table first with varying degrees of heat. Under the ceviché menu listings there was a seafood salad with shrimp, octopus and crab that we tried that blew us away! Guacamole was freshly made and scrumptious. We both had different types of enchiladas for our entree’s and enjoyed them very much. Mine were smothered in a rich, flavorful dark red mole…divine! I took a burrito home for my 89 year old father that was bigger than his head! Huge portions.

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the area—truly a hidden gem. The service is always warm and welcoming, and the food is consistently amazing. Perfect for a quick dinner. While they do offer some Americanized options, it’s their authentic Mexican dishes that really shine. The chorizo is a must-try; it’s the best I’ve had. Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and I always leave with leftovers for the next day. I recommend El Local to everyone looking for a great place to eat. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out!

5 stars every single time. I went here for the first time in December of 2025. And I have been back several times. The food is fantastic. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The vibe inside is cozy and authentic. I honestly just wish I would have found them sooner. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants now. I hope their business continues to grow. If you are reading this , just go. It is by far the best Mexican food in the area.

I didn’t know this was here til recently. Ordered for pick-up, super fast, burrito is huge and FULL of toppings! They forgot my queso but that’s ok, I’ll try it the next time! Ladies were super friendly & welcoming.

Liked the prices but the food was even better. My whole group couldn’t stop laughing and smiling and enjoying our food we had such a good time. The staff was very good and we all kept saying we found a new spot to return to. I think this is the taco spot you can smell from around the seven bridges. Highly recommended!!!

The salsa they give with you with chips was a little oniony but other than that was pretty good.
The desayuno el local was like a typical chilaquiles with chips, meat, eggs and sauce. It was good!
The steak chimichanga, not much to say, it was a good chimichanga.
The steak taco was also very good, there was enough meat for almost three tacos!
The Horchata, I’ve tasted horchata at almost every place that serves it in Milwaukee and surrounding areas. This is the best Horchata in the area! The next closest place I liked it was “The Spanish Traveler” but they are way too expensive!
The staffer was super nice, polite, and sweet!
I would definitely recommend checking this place out. I’m not saying it the best but for Milwaukee it’s one of the better places I’ve been!

6-27 Look I’ve been coming to this Gem for a year and now I just Call it “Maria’s!” The food was Delicious as always. Literally enjoyed everything until the last bite. As always Thank you Maria for being You, you’re simply amazing!

Was craving the Best Quesa Birria so of course I had to come running! Yes i came 2 days in a row and you would too if you knew how good the Quesa Birria is! Had the best server ever too! S/o to Maria she’s literally the best!

So I asked my dad what he wanted for his birthday and of course he chose El Local 2. At this point I’ve tried Almost every type of taco. The environment is so warm. I was greeted by my favorite servers Maria and Yeslie. They are the most sweetest most inviting servers I’ve ever had in my life. We had a phenomenal time! I thank you so much for always making my day Maria!

Frida was our waitress and she was wonderful and very accommodating and the food was amazing! …..only thing that lacked professionalism was the male cooks. They seemed a little hostile and I over heard them say something very negative about me for no reason at all lol. I’m here for food not for your little drama. But Frida and the food was the only thing that kept me from leaving that restaurant. I won’t be coming back though. This happend Sunday August 10th in the afternoon.

I would say it’s more like a 3.9, very solid. My wife and kids had dinner and we were actually the only ones in the restaurant. We didn’t get offered a high chair for our 1 year old and didn’t see any. My tacos were the most loaded tacos I’ve had. I had chicken, pork, and steak. I found a bone in the chicken when I was chewing, luckily it was me and not my son. Otherwise the tacos were really good. The refried beans, best I’ve ever had. Rice was also very good. But for being the only people in there the waitress didn’t really check on us too much. I will be back to try more food.
