Just had a lovely experience at Milly’s! Lunch is cafeteria style, which is perfect for our rainy road trip with our dogs where we don’t want to be stuck eating on a patio and we don’t want to leave them in the car while we eat inside.

Fried chicken moist and juicy, fried okra truly some of the best I’ve ever had and RIGHT out of the fryer. Nothing was greasy.

Chicken sausage gumbo was super tender and authentic, and clearly made with fresh vegetables. Sides were all winners….collards, butter beans were my favorite. The only critique I have that isn’t really a critique is that the side needed a bit of added salt and hot sauce (add their homemade pepper vinegar) but I enjoyed being able to salt to my preference.

Service is exactly what you want from a Southern restaurant! The gentleman running the cash register was so sweet, and when I forgot to order my coffee and came back to get one, he gave me a to-go cup and refused to let me pay for the coffee. Very sweet gesture and I wish I could eat here weekly!

Our total bill for two meals (large protein + 2 sides and an extra side of okra) came out to $26. This would be double the price in Saint Pete.

We ate our food next to the lake while admiring all of the beautifully decorated (it’s Christmas time) southern-style homes around the lake. Defuniak Springs was just a 30-minute stop on our road trip home to St Pete, but after our experience at Milly’s, we are already planning to come back to spend a full weekend here.

Thanks Milly’s!

Solid little local breakfast place, most of the food is already prepared and ready to be put together your way!! So you can pickup your food pretty quick most of the time if you’re in a rush, I just did the cheese grits and an egg and a sausage link biscuit. The cheese grits and egg were solid, the biscuit had been sitting a lot bit long under the warmer so was a little crispier but still good and the sausage link was what I expected, I would recommend you give them a shot, always support local business and especially a nice little breakfast spot in Defuniak Springs!!

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Milly’s. The food was delicious! Unlike many restaurants, the food wasn’t over-salted. We enjoyed fried chicken, chicken gumbo over rice, fried okra and black eyed peas. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant was clean! This is a no-frills, down-home cooking spot that is sure to fill your comfort food needs!

This place is amazing . We were on a road trip and stopped to charge our car, so we were looking for an open restaurant around us. We found Milly’s Cafe. I had home made style fried chicken. My husband had BBQ ribs which were perfectly cooked with potatoes wedges. My kids had chicken strips with mashed potato. They have a variety of side options, including Mexican food . I love this restaurant.

Quiet welcoming atmosphere…
Well… I was there at the early morning hours… surprisingly many people coming by for coffee and food… Biscuits, bacon, meats… freshly made by a gorgeous girl or woman maybe… ‍♂️
Very nice guy at the counter, Adrian.

Nestled in the heart of the DeFuniak Springs, Millys Cafe has quickly become my go-to spot for a cozy meal that feels like a warm hug. From the moment you step through the door, the inviting aroma of home-cooked goodness envelops you, setting the stage for a delightful dining experience.
Food: 5/5 The standout feature of Millys is undoubtedly the food. Each food option is prepared fresh daily, using locally sourced ingredients, which is apparent in the vibrant flavors and quality of every bite. Its hard to chose between their fried chicken for their signature meatloaf with creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The meatloaf was perfectly seasoned and had that melt-in-your-mouth texture that only comes from a lovingly cooked meal. The creamy mashed potatoes were the ideal creamy counterpart, and the seasonal veggies added a refreshing crunch. The portions are generous, and the variety of daily specials ensures there’s always something new to try.
Service: 5/5 The service at Millys is simply impeccable. From the moment I entered, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. It’s clear that the team takes pride in ensuring every guest leaves happy, contributing to the overall experience.
Value: 4.5/5 Given the quality of the food and the generous portion sizes, the prices are very reasonable. You truly feel you are getting a great meal for your money, with the added bonus of knowing it was made with love and care. Final Thoughts: Milliys Cafe is a little slice of home in the midst of the hustle and bustle. With fresh, flavorful dishes that evoke nostalgia and service that makes you feel right at home, it’s a must-visit for anyone seeking a comforting meal. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this cafe should definitely be on your itinerary. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their delicious offerings! Highly recommended!

If you want a fantastic breakfast with an appreciative staff, go! The chicken and waffles got a thumbs up from my husband and was delicious.
My breakfast special was as well.
They ask if you have been before so they explain how “ it works”. You order and pay at the counter then the food is brought to you.
If you want to try something you may not have had before, ask for the Pizole! It is served on Saturdays. It will soon be a favorite of yours!
Give this great small town business a try!

If you go to Milly’s Cafe, you absolutely must get the fried chicken. This isn’t just standard cafe fare—it’s genuine, comfort-food perfection. The skin is incredibly crispy, holding up beautifully without being greasy, and the seasoning blend is spot-on, giving it that wonderfully savory, slightly peppery kick. Inside, the meat is always juicy and cooked through. Pair it with their potato wedges for the ultimate nostalgic lunch. Great service and a cozy atmosphere complete the experience, but the chicken is the star of the show! Highly recommended.
