⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **5/5 – Absolutely Outstanding Experience at Fogón Taíno!**
I recently dined at **Fogón Taíno**, and from start to finish, everything was simply *spectacular*! I ordered the **arroz con lechón**, **alcapurrias**, and **mollejitas**, and every single dish was bursting with authentic flavor and perfectly seasoned. The arroz con lechón was tender, juicy, and full of that rich, traditional Puerto Rican taste. The alcapurrias were crispy on the outside and deliciously savory inside—just the way they should be. And the mollejitas? Melt-in-your-mouth perfection!
Beyond the food, the **service was outstanding**. The staff made me feel genuinely welcomed, attentive without being intrusive, and clearly passionate about what they do. You can tell they take great pride in both their cuisine and their guests’ experience.
Fogón Taíno is the kind of place that reminds you why you love local food—authentic, flavorful, and served with heart. I’ll definitely be coming back soon.

Visiting El Fogón Taíno in Utah feels like taking a direct trip to the Caribbean without leaving the state. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm, family-friendly atmosphere filled with the true Boricua spirit. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready with a smile.
The food is authentic, fresh, and full of Taíno flavor, just like on the island. The dishes are generous, well-prepared, and made with that homemade touch that only a real Boricua kitchen can offer.
If you’re looking for a place to spend time with family, celebrate something special, relax, or simply enjoy a delicious meal, this is the perfect spot.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting to try something different, flavorful, and made with heart.

I don’t have a habit of writing reviews. But after my husband and I ate here on Friday, the only thing I could think was that want everyone knew to come try this food. They make the most amazing, comforting, authentic PR food lI’ve had here in Utah outside of my own house lol. Walking in, looked at their menu & went a little nuts. We ordered rellenos de papa, alcapurria, mofongo con pernil, & a HUGE 1/2lb tripleta made on pan sabao that Hector & his wife bake fresh every day. be honest, I was full before the tripleta even came out. Hector had warned me that it was a big sandwich, but am an immovable object when it comes to food and tried desperately to make a dent in it anyway. The tripleta was overflowing with jamón, bistec, & more of their juicy pernil (garlicky slow-roasted pork shoulder). ate about 1/4 & had to concede defeat. Hector was a good sport & helped me pack it up to take home, chuckling that at least had enough to eat for the rest of the weekend. Sitting here on Sunday in front of the last hunk of that tripleta, completely agree with him. As we waddled over to the counter to pay, I spied the pasteles (pastries) case out of the corner of my eye. Not to be deterred by my full stomach – which was by that point testing the tensile strength of the elastic waistband on my pants asked Hector to box us up some quesitos y empanadillas de guayaba for the ride home. All together, we paid around $75 for everything, including 2 specialty drinks. When you consider that we’ve been eating our leftovers for 2 days, it’s easy to say that the value is excellent. Not only is the food PHENOMENAL (& I really must use all caps to emphasize my point), but the atmosphere & the people really make this place feel like visiting a family friend’s casita back in PR or in Queens. For me, the nostalgia is unreal. For my husband whose only connection to Puerto Rico is me, it was dipping into a new culture. One that values family, community, and generosity above all. All that to say… you gotta go visit Hector at El Fogón Taíno.

I had the arroz con gandules with pernil and it was fantastic. The pernil was juicy and perfectly seasoned. I also had the tamarind juice and it was really nice and refreshing. I bought some frozen pasteles to eat for Benito Bowl tonight!

My family and I had a wonderful experience at El Fogón Taíno in Salt Lake City. The food was fresh, flavorful, and truly tasted like home. The service was excellent from beginning to end, and the owner is incredible, so kind, welcoming, and passionate about what they do. The atmosphere was warm, comfortable, and full of Puerto Rican spirit. We left happy, full, and grateful. Highly recommend this place!

I would like this place to do welll. Here is my take on it. I ordered an order of Amarillos that’s $6.50. It came with 4 thin slices. The canoa the ground beef was dry the plantain was like a pinto plantain not a fully ripe one. The alcapurria was surprisingly dry for something that’s deep fired and it felt like it needed more salt. The pinchos was just the meat so don’t expect the stick with the slice of bread. One papa rellena and it was meh. I’ll give it two stars because the food came out fast and hot so they got that part right. $40 something dollars later. I’m still hungry. Here’s a picture. You be the judge but I think the prices don’t reflect the quantity or quality.

The food was so delicious; We ordered the mofongo, Cuban sandwich, and arroz con gandules y puerco. Not to mention that the service was 10/10. The couple running the shop were very friendly. They showed pride and love in their food. If we are ever back in Salt Lake City, we will go back. South African and Chinese friends approved.
