The end of an era. If you go to the website, it appears that Dave’s Delicious Deli closed on or around November 10th, 2025.
You could tell Dave’s was a place where the people running it really enjoyed what they did. They loved making the food that we ate. It was seriously one of the best delis in the area and never got the recognition it deserved, outside of the local crowd. Look at the reviews of this place and the rating it ends with, and that’s all that needs to be said. The very definition of a hidden gem. I will never forget calling and always hearing some sort of variation of “Dave’s Deli”. The food was always stellar and never missed the mark. I will miss the $4 appetizers that were unbeatable, the unique combinations and twists on sandwiches, especially two: the chicken and eggplant salad sandwiches (chopped deli sandwiches are a widespread fad now and you guys literally innovated it) and the Kim’s Fish, the very best sandwich I’ve ever eaten. This place was so special, consistently great, and it was a standout from its first to its last day. Reading the short background on Dave’s Delicious Deli on their website, it followed in the footsteps of a very similar deli before it. Perhaps one day that will be the case for this establishment. Standards like these delis need to continue to exist in New Jersey, for they are truly one of the only hallmarks that add to and define our culture. I will greatly miss Dave’s delicious Deli.

Hands down the best sandwiches in Caldwell—no question about it. Dave’s Delicious Deli lives up to its name with every bite. The ingredients are always fresh, the portions are generous, and the flavor? Out of this world. You can tell they take pride in every sandwich they make.
But what really made my visit unforgettable was the incredibly kind service. One of the women working there offered me a free can of soda, just as a thoughtful gesture. It’s that kind of small-town kindness that makes you want to come back again and again.
If you haven’t been to Dave’s yet, you’re seriously missing out. This place is a gem.

I will never order another chicken salad sandwich again. I had mine spicy and my wife had the OG and we messed them up in the parking lot right after the lady dropped them off at our car.
It’s only available for pickup at the moment so plan on eating the food in the parking lot or driving somewhere to eat it.

What a jem. I recommend anything. Best chicken salad you will ever have, and take a pick at anything. Won’t be disappointed. Very friendly, outgoing owners. Love this place. Drive 45 minutes to get the food here.

ADDICTED! Tried this place a few months ago and now I have to have it atleast once a week…you will not get a sandwich like this anywhere in NJ… I am from NY and truthfully I don’t know if I’ve ever had a sandwich like this in NY! Everything I’ve tried is fresh, made to order and well worth the wait… people complain about curbside pickup, but to be quite honest.. we live in a world now where everything is delivered or picked up…so get over yourselves…let them be! LOVE YOU GUYS..and I recommend you to everyone i know!

Incredible food. The chicken cutlet sub is very fresh and delicious. The bread is perfect, chicken is crispy and tender, and the prices are very fair! Easily the best sandwich in West Caldwell. Although this is a curbside pickup and no dine-in, the food and service is superb! I highly recommend Dave’s Delicious Deli.

DIVINE. Absolutely amazing. Exceptional quality, crisp, flavorful, delicious and zingy! Really appreciate the top notch customer service in addition to high quality food. Highly recommend. Be aware, they get very busy , especially week days around lunch, so order in advance! Seamless, pick up process. All around 5 stars. Bravo.
