The owner told us we are not a fast food restaurant and expect to wait. And we did. They don’t have waiters or waitresses. You have to get your own drinks and place your orders at the counter. Staff was friendly but seemed overwhelmed. They needed more help. Food was ok, my son-in-law didn’t like his corn beef hash and the burned my daughter’s pancakes. My eggs Benedict was mediocre.
We won’t be back. Everything was served on paper plates, even paper soup bowls.
Not worth the $40 per person we paid.

Stopped in for the first time yesterday to have lunch with a friend after shopping at The Groovy Collective across the street. We were referred by the store owner to try Market Roost and it did not disappoint! I had the focaccia sandwich, which was delicious and my friend had the baked croissant with Brie/apples and loved it! Very friendly owner and relaxing atmosphere, I will definitely be back!

Came to flemington for a birthday and we decided to stay the weekend and came here for Saturday brunch and the food and service was great! It’s a charming restaurant. We were greeted by the staff and started off with coffee. Then I got the kahlua French toast and my wife got the steak omlette, every dish came with a side of fresh fruit. Everything was delicious and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. They also have an assortment of baked goods and cheeses. Would love to come again and try more brunch options.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Genuinely horrible experience. The food is pretty gross, it took 20 minutes for it to even get out to us. The food I ordered looked like a toddler assembled it, no joke. Undercooked and messily put together. The staff looks like they’d rather be anywhere else. The restaurant itself is also nasty, I quite literally saw a couple insects Save your money and your sanity — do not eat here.

Was greeted by the lovely sight of the owner trying to go unnoticed while quickly swatting flies away from their selection of “fresh baked goods”. Thank god the other cafes down the street serve pastries that do not double as a habitat for insects! As a place that prides itself on being a “small business” you’d expect more attention to detail. I am team supporting small businesses that actually care about their community/what they’re serving to their customers.

It takes quite a bit for me to leave a poor review. It’s pretty inside but not worth your time. Food was just okay. Poor customer service and unclean. Found more than one strand of hair in my food and had to keep swatting at gnats.

Best brunch menu and lamb burger I have had in New Jersey! Excellent “feel at home” service. I must when here in the state.

Have been here many times for the food, but recently ordered my wedding cake from Market Roost. It turned out both delicious and beautiful- everyone loved it and we were so happy with our choice!

After finding the Market Roost closed every time I got to Flemington for the past 6 years, I had given up on it. Last week I must have come earlier for to my surprise it was open. Forget NJ Magazine’s bakery ratings. This place is a rare find. I should have photographed the pies for you. They were a long lost refreshing nostalgic trip to my youth when people baked pies you no longer see. Each being more beautiful than the rest, and the restaurant seemingly rarely open, I took home a granny Smith apple, a Montmorency cherry, and the piece de resistance trumpet flare please: pecan. They were so perfectly picturesque and beautiful to behold, I couldn’t make up my mind so bought all three and what a discovery I made. No one makes pies as these. Next time I’m leaving earlier or phoning ahead and buying a whole pie. I also want to order something from their menu as anyone who spends the money and takes the time to produce pies as these must also have over-the-top dishes and sandwiches. I’m returning. Forget that NJ Magazine top rated bakery in Lebanon. There is no comparison. That may be an effort to list something in western NJ when no one thought to try the then abandoned run down Flemington. By the way, Flemington is slowly returning to meet and perhaps exceed its former self. I encourage us to save The Market Roost. Make the drive. Get there, but phone ahead or get there early. Oh, almost forgot, they sell round meringue pieces for making no calorie “floating island desserts.” I floated one in a cherry soup I concocted. For those unfamiliar a floating island is a wonderful refreshing low cal sweet (almost healthy) fruit dessert found in upscale French restaurants ala Chez Catherine. Market Roost pies are going to be my Christmas gifts to family and clients this year. Photos next time. I promise.
