The young lady at the register was very friendly. I inquired about a specific taco that had created quite a buzz online, only to be told it was available only after 5 PM. Disappointed, I ordered something else and waited 30 minutes for my order.
During my wait, I observed the same young lady handling money and food without changing gloves. As someone who works in healthcare, this was concerning. When I finally received my food, it was burnt and tasteless, which was disheartening considering the price.
I will not be returning to this location. The location in Central Islip is far superior, with dedicated staff handling money separately from those preparing and packing the food, ensuring a cleaner and more professional environment. Additionally, they provide a seating area to wait comfortably for your order.
I had gotten the Al pastor on corn tortilla, camaron on corn tortilla, and the tamaron and my husband got the carne asada flour tortilla and the Al pastor on flour tortilla. We both shared the mar y Tierra. We loved everything and have to go back for more.
The place is a bit small though. So maybe 5-10 can fit in there. There’s only three seats in it. They were busy for a Thursday afternoon. They do have specials so that’s always nice to see. They do have USB chargers so that’s great to see. You can either order with one of the employees or on their screen that they have. One of the employees, I’m assuming was the manager, was very nice and took a minute to see how we were doing. Which I totally appreciate. I also love that it’s across from the train station. It was $35 for everything but totally worth the money. We will be coming back here again!
Now let’s talk drinks… I had the horchata and OMG—hands down, the BEST I’ve had in a long time. Creamy, cinnamon-y, and totally homemade. Yes, even the drinks are made from scratch!
And the street corn? BOMB. Full of flavor, perfectly charred, and totally addictive. The tacos? Say less. Juicy, flavorful, and straight-up dreamy. I left full and happy, and I’m already counting down the days until I go back!
The salsa bar was a nice touch too, the salsa verde was so fresh and one of the best I’ve had!
Not much seating but a perfect little grab and go taco shop!
Upon entering I was greeted by a very nice gentleman, who I believe is one of the owners. He took my order and asked for a name to go with the order. I asked if they have a lunch special and they do. It’s listed on the board next to the door and is easy to miss.
I ordered two tacos (pollo asada and al pastor). The lunch special comes with a bag of tortilla chips and a canned soda/beverage. With tax it came to around $12.
The al pastor taco w/ corn tortilla is the star of the show. The meat has a nice char and is super flavorful. The pollo asada was just okay. I didn’t detect much flavor. Honestly, I should’ve eaten the chicken taco first to make it a fair flavor fight. On my next visit I’ll probably get al pastor and camaron tacos.
The prices are super reasonable with prices ranging from $4-5 per taco. There’s also a bar with sauces and small to-go cups.
Parking might be tricky during the week since this spot is directly across the street from the busy LIRR Babylon station.
I will definitely return.
