I really like this restaurant. We arrived a few minutes before they opened, but the owner kindly let us in early. We had taken the tram up to the hospital and walked around, and I’m so glad we stumbled upon this spot. The sushi was fresh, and the portions were huge, definitely shareable. I’m not sure when I’ll be back in Portland, but when I am, I’ll definitely make a return visit to this sushi restaurant.

Momiji’s location is a bit of a double-edged sword: somewhat hidden, and out-of-the-way for the casual diner, but eminently located for anyone stuck in and around OHSU for an extended period of time. It also suffers slightly from that association, as one might consider it “hospital food”, with all of its sordid associations. Thankfully, I can confirm there’s nothing to worry about here.

It’s not “top shelf” sushi, by any means, but what they offer is still delicious, prepared competently and quickly, and priced affordably. My wife and I dined here after an entire half-day spent in a series of appointments and check-ups, and were famished by the time we wandered over to check this place out (we’d been meaning to ever since our last extended visit to OHSU). Among the multiple rolls in our order, the Miso Sexy and the Valentine rolls stood out among our favorites; they also make a decent miso soup: not too watery, not too strong, but just right!

As my wife is pregnant (again!), I know another visit to Momiji is on the horizon, as we will definitely be delivering at OHSU again. When that time comes, there’s no doubt I’ll be sneaking out of the delivery room, skipping the cafeteria, and making a bee-line straight for this place, likely smuggling a spicy tuna hand roll or two back with me (my wife’s favorite).

NEVER AGAIN! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! Ordered TAKEOUT- Chicken was OLD, not even a little bit fresh, Blackened tuna had no color/fishy, Miso was even terrible! Makes me gag just thinking about it! Pretty much threw away $45 worth of food!! Thought it would be a change from the “hospital” food which wasn’t too bad, but thought some take-out would be a nice change. So unfortunate as families are at a hospital for not the best reasons and then to waste money on food that went straight to the trash… I didn’t think of pictures before I dumped it all, but I know now never again!! FYI- My food did not look like others, maybe they thought they could get away with it since it was take out!

Stuck at the hospital. Got lost looking for parking. Saw this place. Got the lunch special. Omg! This is now my favorite sushi place. Big portions. Fresh. Friendly. Clean. Super happy with the food. I’ve already bragged to the nurses.

Good food and service! Our table enjoyed the wide selection of rolls and sushi although the black pepper tuna roll stood out the best. They go slightly heavy on the rice although it’s not hard to eat around it. I would go back here.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing !
We went here for lunch on a Friday and it wasn’t crowded. We were seated and ordered drinks. Promptly served our drinks and order taken by a very polite server.
The food came out in 12 minutes, and it was all fresh and hot. The flavors are quality of everything we ordered was absolutely perfect!!! Delicious and portions are fairly big too. I definitely recommend a visit.
This is a hidden gem ✨️

Best sushi in Portland during my 3 week stay.
I visited a few other sushi spots that even cost a bit more, and this place hands down was the best.. Its hidden behind the parking lot of OHSU hospital or DCH, a beautiful walk while visiting the medical center
This photo is their Sushi Tower, the best

Food was good but the selection was lacking. Usually Momiji has Bento Boxes but this one only had sushi options. The water tasted like plastic and was undrinkable. Service and staff were great though!
