The third restaurant by local business owners, Cheyne and Nikki O’Laughlin, Ladybird is cozy yet chic. It’s the perfect downtown lunch spot, your go-to for drinks and small plates after work or the place for a boozy brunch with the girls. Whether you’re ordering coffee to-go, a craft cocktail at the bar, or lunch on the patio, Ladybird is unique, unexpected and delicious.

Decor is beautiful. Warren, our waiter, wss attentive and helpful. Food was good but not awesome. Presenation was very good. Would recommend smaller coffee cups as coffee cools too quickly. Nice to have this locally-owned restaurant in downtown though parking can be a little bit of as issue if you are not walking.

Overall, a must visit for anyone in Terre Haute. One of the best brunch places I’ve ever been. Ever since we first visited this place accidentally, we fell in love with it. The food is way too delicious. Best compliments to the chef. They know their flavors well!! Great choices for vegetarian dishes.
Here are a few dishes we’ve tried so far rated by how much I liked them:
1. LadyBird Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup:
Firstly, the tomato soup is one of the, if not THE, best soups I’ve had in Terre Haute. It is quite thick and the flavor is deep. The grilled cheese has some jalapeños in it, that actually tasted sweet. Not sure how they make it or who came up with it, but the combination goes really well together. And yeah, their sour dough bread is great!
2. Soho Latke Balls:
These can be ordered as a side (qty:3) or as an appetizer (qty:6). They seem to be filled with cheese and potato (though not entirely sure) but they taste like heaven. Crrunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. A must try here!
3. The Avacado toast:
The toast comes with a sour dough bread with our choice of eggs and the rest of the filling (avacado, onion, tomatoes etc.) on top of the eggs. It is served with a side of a LOT of greens and my wife really loved the salad.
The service there is quite good too. It is usually busy, so the service is not super quick, but the folks working there are really sweet and give great recommendations.
The ambience seems to be changing everyday, from a summer day in Miami to a cool café in Maryland.
We’ve been going there every week and taking all of our guests and friends there for brunch, and everyone has loved their time there so far.
The only thing that could’ve made me love it even more is if they have a wider choice of drinks or beverages. The current menu seems to be too focused on Coffee, but since I’m not an expert there, I’ll let everyone else experience it for themselves.

My kids and I had lunch after they got married last Friday. It’s my daughter in law’s favorite place. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the club sandwich and the absolute best smoothie I have ever had. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Ladybird is such a unique brunch spot in the Haute. Never had a bad bite here. Although we had a bit of a wait during the last visit, my meal was worth the wait. Ricotta eggs are my current obsession. Mom loves the sweet potato tacos. Traditional coffee is self-serve so there’s no wait for caffeine! My date was initially overwhelmed by the voluminous menu options, but settled on the pretzel bites with the most amazing caramel sauce. He then asked me to leave a negative review so it wouldn’t be as busy next time. Not a chance! 5 stars! Don’t let the downtown location deter you from visiting. Plenty of parking in the garage directly across 9th Street – $1/hr.

What a great place. Food is really good. The atmosphere is so unique and interesting. The servers have all been great. My only criticism would be a lack of a uniform look amoung the staff. Seems like too nice of a place for not having a common look.
Other than that minor point; I highly recommend this place. Well worth the trip. You will be happy.

We stopped in for a nice brunch. We were seated very quickly. We got peach strawberry matcha, which was okay. There wasn’t a lot of flavor in the matcha. I do know that the matcha was $7.00. I am hoping to give them another try. We also got a cortado, which was absolutely amazing! It was very flavorful, and was a big serving. For food we got the caprese on fococcia, and it was very delicious! It was served with a small side salad with a vinegarette dressing. We also got the Mediterranean veggie on fococcia, which again was absolutely delicious. It was also served with a salad. The last thing we ordered was the bread pudding french toast, it was very good. It was served with bacon. Overall it was a good time in a really relaxing atmosphere. Our server was Warren, and he was very helpful when ordering! We will be back again to try more things!

This place was an absolute DELIGHT! The food was amazing, and the service was even better. Our server was patient and very informative as this was our first time there. We had the crab cakes, hub fries, and the chicken and waffles. They ran out of the snickerdoodle creamer, which was also very tasty, and while they were making more for me, literally four people asked me if I needed anything or if I’d been helped. It was so refreshing! Oh, and the music was also a nice surprise, you can never go wrong with old school soul!

We had a lovely experience coming here for our first time on Valentine’s Day. Of course there was a wait but they have a text system set up and the building is full of memorabilia that you can peruse while you wait. There were so many options on the menu we had a hard time choosing. The waitresses that helped us were kind, insightful, and even went above and beyond by noticing we accidently got a double order of latke balls and replaced the side without being asked. Can’t wait to go back to try something else!

A restaurant that is truly one of a kind in Terre Haute. My wife and I recently moved back to Terre Haute after living in Orlando, Chicago and Denver. While we loved being back in our home town, we sorely missed the high quality brunch places that we’d frequent in larger cities. Then we found Ladybird Cafe!
This has become our favorite breakfast/brunch restaurant in Terre Haute. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is delightful, and the servers are wonderful. We love the coffee and the potato lakes. Give it a try for brunch or breakfast!

It’s a fairly new cafe which did not fail to impress with its menu, food, and service. They have a coffee bar area semi separated from the restaurant, helpful if you want to get work done.
Id recommend upgrading to the latke (potatoes pancake)
My server, Alexia, was amazing. She was efficient, checked on me frequently and made great recommendations.
