I only had drinks at the bar after dinner elsewhere, yes Maui closes early everywhere. Roy’s was great though and welcomed us in as others were closing. Conversion with Sean Michael aka beach volleyball killer was engaging. I know this chain from the big island and Chicago but really felt a local flavor that’s missing from the non chains I was at previously on thus trip. I am going back later this week for a great dinner at the bar. Sean thanks for making me a believer in the Roy’s spirit and understanding of the true meaning of ALOHA.

Make no mistake, it’s a white tablecloth restaurant that I wouldn’t normally take my 3-year old to. But they are awesome for kids. A great menu (not fish sticks, but real dishes that adults would eat, just made more kid-friendly). More importantly, they know to get the kids’ food out promptly. That’s key to a successful dinner. Then while you’re eating, the kids’ dessert can come out, and everybody’s happy.

Location is not the greatest, but the food and staff more than make up for it. Also I wish they would decide if they wanted to be a family restaurant or an upscale restaurant. It seems like the ambience was a little bit confused. I will say this is definitely the best butterfish I’ve ever had and I always rate on food and service, not ambience so five stars based on that.

I was very disappointed as the food good but was slow…bottle sevice seemed like it took 15 minutes to get to table….server(cant remember her name as she never said it) smelled like a cigarette, and the manager(lady in clothes that looked like she slept in them) who came up as the check was being dropped off smelled like a bottle of Grey Goose…or was it Kettle One?
Experiences at Roys on the mainland and even Oahu are very different from the one in Maui. Kind of a waste of one of my dinners on Maui with so many great restaurants to go to. I loved our table as it was accross from the window, but could here a chef(sounded like a woman?) cussing throughout the dinner. Ok for my husband and I, but for our kids ears…not so much.

Worst service ive had in 10 years. Management is a joke. Food is horrible. Got 1 (ONE) DRINK IN A QUARTER AND A HALF OF FOOTBALL… WAS NOT VERY BUSY. HAD MORE STAFF STANDING AROUND THAN WORKING. FOOD IS INCONSISTENT. Sandwich (dont know how you mess up a sandwich) was good first time horrible the next. Ordered a margarita pepperoni pizza… got a pepperoni pizza. Asked for the missing tomatoes and basil… got two sandwich slice tomatoes… not diced. No basil. Management was messing around the whole time. Two of them stood right in front of us (DURRING THE SUPERBOWL) For over a quarter talking to some girl even after I said something to them.

Everything is great here. Asked for a vegetarian menu; beautiful, simple and complete. Many things went wrong, but they fixed it times ten each time! Our first married dinner was a success. Thank you Roy’s!!!
