Disappointing Experience at Toasted Yolk in Lumberton Tx – October 12th 2025
I wanted to share my disappointing experience at your restaurant on Sunday, October 12th, around 1:30 PM. I ordered the shrimp salad and BLT sandwich. When my food was brought to me, the shrimp on the salad looked unusual—it was white, not the usual color I would expect. I asked the waitress about it, and she told me it was grilled shrimp, but it still didn’t look right. I tried to explain this to her, but she seemed uninterested and walked away also my daughter hash brown casserole the size was very small. ( but I didn’t complain about that,even tho that’s not a serving).
I then asked an African American gentleman who worked there if the shrimp was supposed to look that way, and he confirmed it was not normal. After that, I lost my appetite and decided not to eat the salad.
To make matters worse, the service was very poor. After waiting a long time for our check, I asked the waitress for a to-go iced tea. She brought me a kid’s size, claiming they were out of cups. This was frustrating, especially considering the iced tea was $3.99, and I had only had one cup. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and her overall attitude was rude and unprofessional.
Unfortunately, I ended up leaving without eating. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes that it will help improve the service and overall experience for future customers.

I have been wanting to try a toasted yolk since they forst build the one in Port Arthur, Texas. Never got around to it despite how many people told me how good it was. Today me and my wife stopped in to the one in Lumberton, Texas and let me tell you, it was not over hyped. It’s beautiful inside compared to the restaurant that use to be here, the service is awesome from a smile and greeting at the door to the nonstop friendly and quick service at the table. The food, (and know I like to eat, so good food matters) is AMAZING, if I wasn’t so full right now I’d order again. I always heard the price was high, but when you look at the menu the price is very fair for what your getting. 10/10 We’ll be back, I think this is the new favorite brunch spot!!!

Definitely left with a mixed review. We found the atmosphere nice but we felt extremely rushed by our waitress. We sat down, glanced at the menu for about a minute and she immediately asks do we know what we wanted to eat? My guest and I both look at each other and were like “seriously”…?
We order, our food comes out. Looks nicely plated. We both ordered different variants of an Eggs Benedict. Her eggs were slightly undercooked, while my eggs were way overcooked. Definitely disappointing.
About halfway through our meal, our waitress walks back over and asks do we need to-go boxes, again, appalled we both agreed we were still eating and we weren’t sure just yet. We hurried and finished, sadly feeling rushed out the door. It was merely shortly after 12pm and they didn’t close for another 3 hours.
When our bill arrived; we were kind of shocked a breakfast for 2 was over $50.
All in all, we feel it has more potential than it currently is delivering, especially for that price.

Took my mom to have breakfast with me and she was amazed!
She does not speak English so I had to translate everything but she loved the omelette she ordered.
She enjoyed her hot coffee as well.

The Benedict with salmon was just ok. Really lacked flavor but was well prepared. In general I thought the food was a little pricey. Service was great although our server was a little difficult to understand, but very knowledgeable and efficient.

The food and service is good, they just need to put shades on the windows that face the parking lot. These are the windows that the sun shines directly into. It never fails, we get seated at one of those booths and have to ask to move because it is too hot and too bright sitting directly in the sun. Other than that, everything is great.

I love Toasted Yolk in Lumberton! My partner and I go at least once a month and we always ask to sit in Kate Balsano’s section! Her service is always amazing and she definitely keeps our energy up. She’s so knowledgeable on the menu that we always ask for her recommendations and everything we’ve tried from her has been a hit! If we go and she’s not there, we come back a different time. Again, amazing service from Kate!!

It was such a great visit! The churro donuts are so fresh that we couldn’t just save them for later!
I brought my dad from out of town, and everything was amazing. The food was wonderful, the server (Tayler H) fulfilled our order perfectly and ensured we were comfortable without being “pushy”, and the atmosphere was awesome for catching up (though imo the music was a touch loud, but I have a small voice soo…theres that). All around, and great addition to our town~
(Sorry for the empty plate photo) it would have been before we ate, but we came starving (and finished the plates after this was taken). We ate from the lunch menu, since we got there a little after 1:30. We both got sandwiches, I had the chili, and my father had fries. That is the latest I would go for a dine-in, as we left right at close at 3 without feeling hurried out.

This was so good! ❤️ Salad came out great and so did the BLT. Kate Balsano did a great job, she was training another server at the time and still made sure that we felt comfortable and waited on! The server she was training also did great! We will definitely be back!! ✨✨✨✨
