At first we were leary due to no customers on a Saturday night.
We ordered the cauliflower appetizer. For $16 all we were given was a very small amount, about 7 pieces. It was good tasting but not worth the price. I tried the lamb chops and the sauce was good but very small portion. My wife tried the branzino fish. Good tasting nothing great. Our waiter was very friendly and good. We sat outside next to the sidewalk. Nice place.
With so many other better places, we don’t think it was worth it,so we won’t return.

Wow! What a treat! Friends brought us here on a Thursday night. I had called the day before to check on some dietary restrictions, and the chef assured me I’d be all good. That’s because they make everything to order, just like in Europe.

As promised, Chef Jeremy was able to make pretty much anything I wanted tailored to my needs.

I started with the sea bass ceviche (daily special) that was the best ceviche I’d ever had – light, flavorful, with just a hint of sweetness. My dining companions said the plantains served with it were amazing. They also had the toasted romaine salad (daily special) and roasted mushrooms, which they loved.

I then had the sea scallops done specially for me – the scallops were huge and everything on the plate melted in my mouth. My companions had lamb and sea bass – and no one had a single morsel of food left on their plate! They were nearly clean enough to back on the shelf.

After a meal like this, we couldn’t bear not to try desert. So I had the poached pear, and they had the banana bread pudding tart (yes, lit it on fire when serving), and cherry cobbler with caramel ice cream. Every bite was savored and gone.

There probably is not a better restaurant in Sarasota. And it’s not just the food that makes this place special – our server Chris was funny, attentive, and followed our meal pace. Chef Jeremy made himself available for questions.

To top it off, the prices are reasonable – making the whole experience feel even more value-laden. My mouth is watering just writing this post.

If this restaurant were close to where I live, I’d eat there every week!

Afterwards, Chris took us next door to their speakeasy, which I’ll review separately.

We stopped into Marcel’s for dinner without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. It was our first time dining here, and every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. The standout favorites were the “Roasted Roots” and the steak frites—surprisingly elevated for such a classic dish. You might not expect fries at an upscale restaurant, but these were exceptional.

The service was genuinely warm and attentive, and we appreciated the owner taking the time to stop by our table and say hello. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I’m already looking forward to returning to explore more of the menu.

Excellence – hands down! I had the most amazing slow-cooked beef bourguignon with mushrooms, carrots on an incredible reduction sauce over mashed potatoes. Wow. I am completely unaware of how it could be improved upon. My wife had sea diver scallops, pan-seared with a mushroom reduction sauce, once again, epic. Oh – and great menu advice from our server Scott and super music selection too

Went here with a good friend the other night and literally everything we ordered tasted absolutely spectacular!! Simple menu but wonderful taste and I ate way too much but only because everything was so flavorful! Chef Jeremy Duclut is the best Chef I have ever had the pleasure of knowing! Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself how awesome Marcel’s food really is! Also didn’t take the picture in time but the Banana Bread Pudding is served with a flame!

I had such a wonderful experience at Marcel DW in Sarasota! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and intimate.

The food was beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. Each dish felt creative yet comforting at the same time.

Wife and I went to restaurant for Savor Sarasota special which lets you pick any appetizers or entree off the menu plus choice of dessert. Very good value as it was $45 and some entrees are in the $30s and some apps above $15. Highly recommend the grilled octopus appetizer. Service was good. Overall a recommend.

As I understand it, Marcel is a new addition to the dining scene here in downtown Sarasota. Coming from Europe, we wanted a laid back vibe, with thoughtfully crafted food and a wine list that went beyond North America. We had high expectations…and, let me say, they were exceeded. If you have the chance to dine at this exceedingly amazing restaurant – do it. Do not hesitate! You will not be disappointed!!

Our 1st venture to Marcel DW and it was delightful. We arrived to a waiting table & our waitress brought us cocktails, Sir Sazerac, & let us relax & take in the atmosphere & music. We ordered seafood bolognaise & sea scallops, both were expertly cooked & presented. They were both spectacular! The mindful talented blend of ingredients melded perfectly. Quite an experience. We finished with a Bin27 port & chocolate ganache tartette. Absolute perfection. Looking forward to bringing all of our friends to this gem.
