Chicken nuggets are a favorite for all ages. While quick service establishments serve their saucy version, the store-bought options bring fun with specialty shapes. Mealtime becomes more than just a quick bite. Patrons want to dive into the fun.
Located off of Shunpike Rd at the corner on the lower level of Hickory Square in Chatham, my partner and I came to Nugget Spot, originally opened in 2013 on East 14th Street in NYC for an Elite event thanks to Sara and the Yelp team.
Upon entering as first-timers yesterday, we were greeted by the staff inside this cozy vibe with only one table and some bar-style seating, with one table outside but mostly takeout. A staff member was so helpful, sharing tips on what to get and walking us through the menu, and we got a bit of history of the place while we waited for our food.
We decided on the Summer Special with the Fried Chicken Ice Cream Sandwich, the Medium Nugs Combo with nacho queso sauce, the Boylan’s Soda Float with the creme soda, and the Limeade.
The quality of the food here is what sets them apart. The seasoning & breading of the nuggets was phenomenal; even without dipping into a sauce, they were tasty with a kick. The portion was healthy enough for a second meal, especially the sandwich.
We met a Yelp couple from Cranford, making this experience more enjoyable. We can also see why they take pride in handcrafting the crispiest, most crave-worthy chicken nuggets using only premium ingredients and bold, house-made seasonings. We can recommend this place.

I had the spicy chicken sandwich, fries, cherry limeade, a Boylan’s soda float, and the Captain nuggets… everything hit the spot. The sandwich was superb, with just the right level of heat and flavor. The cherry limeade was surprisingly good, refreshing and not overly sweet. Bonus points for the variety of awesome sauces that really took everything up a notch.
Service:
Kai and Justin brought great energy to the place — they were fun, personable, and made the experience even better. Service was fast, and the food came out hot and fresh.

I stopped by The Nugget Spot in Chatham NJ.
Jason ( the owner) gave us a nice warm welcome when we arrived.
They restaurant is small and very clean and organized. They have their merchandise hanging on the side. There is no public restroom. This is great for a quick bite and to go orders. They have a summer menu which I had looked over before I arrived to the restaurant. One of the summer menu items that grabbed my attention was the spicy fried chicken sandwich with Chipotle ice cream….yes you read it correctly … fried chicken and ice cream .
We also got a Raspberry lemonade milkshake and a kids Nugget combo with Raspberry lemonade.
It’s did not take long for them to make the food.
So I actually liked the sandwich, the spicy chicken wasn’t really that spicy but it had a kick and the ice cream cooled it off but gave it a good flavor to the sandwich. So if it’s summer I totally say try this sandwich it’s an innovative recipe.
The Raspberry lemonade milkshake was fabulousssss as well as the homemade Raspberry ice tea.
My daughter was very happy with her kids meal too.
So if you are in Chatham pop on over to the Nugget spot and give it a try!
And If you want something interesting and new try the spicy fried chicken with ice cream on it.

Came on a Monday night around 6pm and we had the place to ourselves for a bit. Justin the manager was so helpful sharing tips on what to get and walking us through the menu, and we got a bit of history of the place while we waited for our food. The nuggets were really good, even for my nugget picky friend. We got a 1/2lbs of the reg and 1/2lbs of the captain crunch. 1/2lbs sounds like a lot, but it is actually the right amount (~7-8 pieces). They were cooked perfectly. The captain crunch had a bit of sweetness to it at the end which was surprisingly good. We got a side of the fries and I was a huge fan. Sauce options were plenty, a big fan of the pickle sauce and truffle mayo. It really is best when you eat at the place since it’s hot, fresh and crispy. The homemade drink options were raspberry lemonade, limeade and unsweetened iced tea. We got the first two and loved them, they weren’t too sweet. Finished off with their donuts which were AMAZING. Not your typical donut holes. The perfect ratio of crispy outside and the dough inside. I will definitely come back and have already recommended it to my friends.

Super Professional Nuggies and Chicken Sandwiches. Tender juicy chicken with crunchy coating. I tried the regular nugs which were a basic breading , the Captain Crunch nugs which were exactly that coated in Captain Crunch and the “Skinny” nugs which were grilled nuggets and they were seasoned nice and juicy. I tried a bunch of sauces and they all work well with all the nuggets. The sauces I tried were Mr. Pickle which was a dill pickle aioli , blue cheese, golden BBQ, Honey Mustard, Nacho Queso , and the SHHH… secret sauce which was awesome and they wouldn’t tell me what it was. I also tried 2 chicken sandwiches and they were the biggest sandwiches I’ve ever seen. Both large juicy fried chicken thighs on a massive Hawaiian bun. The original had mayo and pickles and I had the monthly special which had truffle mozzarella nugs, truffle honey and truffle mayo. I also had a side of crispy fresh French fries. Some house made drinks and water available. Fast friendly service. Only 1 table inside and some bar style seating. Would like to try more nugs and more sauces and see what other special sandwiches they come up with.

A little shop, few seats, most to go orders, with chicken nuggets (breaded and not), a few sides like fries, nacho chip crusted mac & cheese, and broccoli (I guess something healthy), and a lot of different sauces and three different drinks (2 lemonades and a tea) plus canned / bottled drinks. The grilled chicken was overdone – half burned. Skip that. The breaded and fried was good, but not the best. Service was efficient, though, and very nice. Original BBQ was ok; the Thai Chili sauce was much better.
