Worst dining experience ever. It felt like a takeout spot pretending to be a sit-down restaurant.
You have to order and pay upfront, then fetch your own water, napkins, spoons, and sauce before finding a seat.
We ordered the chicken pho and shrimp fried rice, each costing $17. The price is far too high for the poor quality.
Chicken Pho: It came in a large bowl, but the chicken was a boneless leg piece. Thinly sliced chicken breast would have been much better and is the standard. This was a first time seeing leg and thigh chicken meat in soup with skinon ,didn’t taste good. Crucially, no sprouts, jalapeños, or basil were served with it, which was very disappointing.
Shrimp Fried Rice: It only had about 6-7 small shrimp and very few carrots and peas. I can honestly make more delicious fried rice at home.

Don’t waste your money here. For authentic pho, be sure to check out La Thai Cuisine on Plainfield instead.”

I went to Pho Luu today to try Pho for the first time. You have to order via tablets at the entrance. There was a gentleman helping an older pair with the ordering process. You can then take a seat and they will bring your food out to you. Took about 15 minutes for the Pho, and 25 minutes for the spring rolls to come out.

I ordered the Luu special beef Pho, from the top of the menu. The dish came out super aromatic, with steaming hot broth. The smells of the seasonings was super potent. It smelled delicious. The beef was served raw, but quickly cooked by itself in the heat of the broth. The flavor profile was new and interesting to me. Very tasty, like comfort food. The spring rolls were top notch, up there with some of the best I’ve tried, but they could have been drained better, a bit too much oil dripping of the outside. The Pho was $18, and 4 spring rolls were $12.

The only complaints that I have is that the sauce bottles all had dried residue at the lid. I tried to find a table with clean sauce bottles, but there wasn’t any. Also, the waiter brought me chili sauce with my spring rolls, and the whole outside of the bottle was sticky with spilled sauce. Also I only got served 1 napkin, and there isn’t a napkin dispenser at the counter.

Overall, I think Pho Luu is a great new addition to Rivertown. The food here is more upscale, and definitely more real than most of what’s on offer in the food court upstairs. You get better food at Luu, and the prices are only a few bucks higher.

Food: The food was fresh and hot. I can tell they used fresh ingredients. Although, the flavor was lacking for the vegan pho. I’ve definitely had better. The rice was good and decent. It’s your average fried rice. The spring rolls were great and the accompanying sauce was also really good.
Service: We were the only ones there for a while. We ordered two entrees and a side… However, it took them quite a while to serve our food. We had to ask for water and refill it ourselves. There were also dirty dishes at other tables that took 30 minutes to get cleaned up. The service wasn’t good. I understand it’s a new place and they seemed understaffed… It just wasn’t good service
Price: Genuinely, I feel it’s overpriced for what you get. I’ve had much better for less (Lai Thai). I don’t know if it’s because it’s in the mall or what, but the price is high when compared to similar menus in other restaurants!!
I won’t be dining here again. I may order the spring rolls on their own ahead of time for pick-up in the future. However, I wasn’t impressed enough to want to come back for the entrees…
I wish them luck and improvement.

My best friend and I saw that the restaurant was and decided to give it a try. It was her first time having PHO and we loved it.

She got the spicy beef while I got the beef PHO with some tempura spring rolls. The food was so good.

The owners were so nice and sweet. The service was great too. We will be going back.

You’re better off making food at home or buying from the frozen section. My stomach hurts and it didn’t taste good at all. Needed so much Sriracha to cover the lack of flavor

Decided to try the new pho luau restaurant in the mall. Ordered the chicken skewers and they were not cooked all the way. The tempura shrimp rolls were ok. Praying now that we don’t get sick:(. We will not be back.
