Omg this Chicken and sides was so damn delicious. The favor just marinated in my stomach. Rice and cornbread dressing, cabbage greens, string beans with potatoes. This kinda food have me thinking about moving to Lake Charles. The staff was so friendly. Love everything about it.

We picked this based on Google on our way to Houston, and I am so glad we did! We ordered 4 chicken boxes with sides, and the chicken was huge, juicy, and delicious! It is salty and crispy the way I love it and grew up eating it. Mama Reta came to the window to say his, and she explained that she grew up in the house where her drive through restaurant is now housed (and her kids and grandkids). The sweet tea was SWEET! Loved it. The fried okra was perfect and I loved the mustard greens she surprised us with 4 little pieces of cake. We will be back to visit Mama Reta again! Highly, highly recommend for authentic southern cooking.

I had no idea how good Mama Reta’s Kitchen was until recently. I passed by on Sunday when I was in Lake Charles. I ordered just classic southern cooking, but everything I ordered was done well and packed with soul. We got both fried and Baked Chicken, both had good flavors. Their cornbread dressing was perfectly mixed with great taste.

Mama Rita’s kitchen is a family owned business,with home style cooking from scratch. Mama Rita was awesome, very kind and sweet. She even came out to the car with a are good. We stopped at Mama Reta’s in Lake Charles on the way to New Orleans looking for a place to eat, and I will say, it was the best mistake ever. We ordered the fried chicken wings with cornbread and texas toast along with a side of the cornbread dressing. The flavor was on point! No hot sauce is needed for the wings. Whatever secret breading she is using was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. And the dressing, omg, I would’ve sworn my grandma was in the kitchen! They were so good we tried to stop on the way back to find out they were closed on Sundays. The only reason I rated 4 stars is because we didn’t receive any napkins or utensils and I got toast instead of cornbread. We went to the lake to eat our food and ended up using our paper bags as napkins, and yes…. our chicken wing bones as a spoon! LOL! It was still worth it!! We will def stop again on our next road trip.

Best fried chicken I have had! The batter is amazing! The amount of food served is almost enough to share… but as good as all the food is you won’t wanna share lol. Location is great for traveling through. Definitely will be a must stop during our road trips! Thanks Mamma Reta for existing!

The only problem with Mama Reta’s is that she no longer has a dining room.
We got the chicken wing basket to split for lunch & the gumbo to split later for dinner. And a couple of bits of cake were thrown in for good measure. We arrived a bit before noon, so we’re able to have a bit of a visit through the takeout window while the chicken wings cooked. The food was great & Mama Rita is a gem. So glad she’s made it back from the hurricane.

We got the two piece fried chicken with onion rings and Mac and cheese! It was amazing!!! The staff was very friendly. I highly recommend giving this MaMa Reta’s! We will definitely be back! Oh and the drive through makes it quick and easy! Ohhhhh I can’t forgot the cornbread!!!! It was amazing!!!!
