I went to Harvest for the first time on Sunday around 1 PM with my boyfriend for brunch, and honestly, it was disappointing. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated, even though there were plenty of empty tables inside. When we asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar, she flat-out said no without any explanation and wasn’t friendly about it—it felt really dismissive.

What didn’t make sense was that there were more than 10 people waiting outside while so many tables inside were empty. I can understand if they were short on servers or had other logistical issues, but there was no explanation, which made the situation frustrating and confusing.

Our server was sweet and polite, but it was her first day and she wasn’t familiar with the menu, which we understood. I ordered two pancakes, sausage, and potatoes, and my boyfriend got an omelette with sausage and bacon.

The pancakes came on separate plates, which seemed unnecessary, and the sausage tasted frozen. The potatoes weren’t seasoned at all, even though I had specifically asked about them. The pancakes themselves weren’t anything special, and overall, the food didn’t feel worth the $42 we spent.

Between the dismissive staff, confusing seating situation, long wait, and underwhelming food, this wasn’t a good experience, and we won’t be going back.

6 people for brunch – no complaints and ALL of us said we would come back. 1 French toast, 1 stuffed French toast, 1 croffle, 1 Farmers Breakfast, 1 crispy basket (shrimp), & a stacker sandwich. Delicious!!! We will all be back again to try different things.

MEH… The casadilla was boring. Not sure what I was supposed to do with that bare pile if lettuce on my plate. My hubby had bruschetta, with fresh tomato topping of some sort, the tomatoes were pink, not ripe at all. Odd thing happened, I ordered a berry mojito for $8. The waiter came back and asked if I wanted alcohol in it. Well yes. When we got the bill the alcohol charge was extra $3. Why put a drink that normally is an alcoholic drink on your menu priced with no alcohol in it? Waiter was nice enough, tipped him well. Decor is very boring. Dont see going back. Bill was $55 for two appetizers and two beers and a fluctuating priced mojito.

I got The Stacker — a biscuit sandwich with egg, cheddar, sausage, and bacon — and it was incredible. The biscuit was buttery and perfectly cooked, and the side of potatoes and gravy was just as good. Honestly, the pictures don’t do it justice. I’ll definitely be back to try more!

Let’s talk about the restaurant that took over the building where Sweet Basil was. Tonight was our first time trying Harvest Bar & Grill. Upon arriving, we questioned if they were even open due to there being barely any cars in the parking lot. We saw a waitress come outside to sneak a couple puffs of her cigarette, which she quickly put out after seeing us get out of the car. Once inside, we were impressed with the new decor and ambiance. We were quickly seating – noting only one other family that was there. Our server, Lorena, quickly greeted us with a smile and offered to get our drinks. We were a bit disappointed to find that there were no cocktail specials or recommended mixed drinks. We love trying the different mixed drinks when we go out. They lost points since there was no drink menu. The dinner menu was much smaller than expected, with an obvious attempt at more sophisticated, modern-style entrées. We ordered the southwest egg rolls as an appetizer, which lovely Lorena advised there were no black beans…and asked if they could substitute them (the black beans) for a different protein. We’re always down to try something new so we agreed. The kitchen chose bacon and exactly 2 small pieces of mushroom in each egg roll. No complaints here, it was still very delicious. For our entrees, I ordered the Mahi Mahi which I would give a 10/10. He ordered the surf n turf, which did not come out as good. His steak was not cooked evenly, was mostly fat and had little to no flavor. He did not end up eating the steak, and decided it was too small of a cut to even bother to send back. I think this is a great spot for date nights, but not somewhere I would take the kids for a family meal. You should definitely give it a try- they could use the business. Over all – I would give them a 9/10.

Great food, unique options, and a good atmosphere. Service is a bit slow but maybe cause it’s busy, I never got my coffee refilled. Will come back to try other things. I ordered the stuffed French toast with berries, it was made with Japanese milk bread.

Excellent new restaurant on the Westside near Meijer. I absolutely love the atmosphere and vibe! They have an excellent vegan / vegetarian Skillet option and their drinks are fresh and unique. Love the staff too 🙂

Beautiful atmosphere made for a great girl’s night dinner! I ordered the shrimp tacos with the chips and guac. Service was mediocre, nothing negative, nothing outstandingly positive. Small cocktail menu but over all, food was delicious and decently priced for the portions offered.

This restaurant looks very elegant and clean. I had great service. The server was attentive and my food came out quickly and cooked nicely. I had the stuffed French toast. I have always wanted to try vegan chorizo so I ordered a side of that with a scrambled egg. The egg wasn’t “fresh” but it tasted good. I use farm fresh eggs at home, so I suppose I am spoiled. The chorizo came out ground up. I thought it would be link, so that’s my fault. But it was very delicious. Somewhat spicy and I love that. I put it on top off my egg. It would be great with a tortilla but I already had more than I could finish. I will definitely be back when I am in the area.
