Spoke with the owner today and they decided to permanently close after 18 years.
May 2022 Update
Stopped in for dinner and were able to say hello to Kevin. The kids are grown now and the only reason they are open in the evenings is for takeout orders. We enjoyed our meal and tried some new things. The firecracker steak arrived at our table with a great sizzle – see picture for the steam coming off the hot plate!
Still worthy of the five star rating!

Feb 2022 Update
YAY!!! They’ve reopened!
Kevin and his family are back in business. We ordered takeout (they do not have the delivery drivers yet) and the food tastes as good as it did before)

Not a well known place, but amongst the best in the South Hills. The menu is pretty standard with many offerings but what distinguishes them are the powerful flavors that the cook develops in every dish and the owner and his wife who are there all the time and care deeply.
They have a separate dining room that can be used for private parties and corporate events. The only time they are packed is for their lunch buffets. We come often for dinners and there are rarely more than three other parties in the place. They also deliver within a certain distance.
Always good food and hospitality.

We have been going here since Kevin and Mae opened up 17 years ago. It’s been such a great place to go for family events year after year. We love their food, the atmosphere, service and friendship. You guys r the best. Happy New Years.

My wife and I have ordered from here a few times as it close to the house and convienient to get to. Today we ordered the Mongolian beef and to our surprise they cut up a whole large onion and added a few pieces of beef with it. I’m never one to write reviews but for average at best, average quality of food and the for the price point we will not be ordering from here again. I will gladly drive to The Bean Curd even if it is a little further out of our way.

This has been my favorite Chinese restaurant for years. The owners are fantastic and always are willing to accommodate my picky tastes. They have a small room where we’ve celebrated a number of special occasions over the year and they bend over backwards to make everybody happy.

I usually love ordering from here because it’s hard to find good General Tso’s Chicken, but the last couple of times I’ve ordered the chicken tastes like it has either been handled with rubber gloves or the plastic container is imparting a taste on it — just tastes off. Not sure I can continue ordering if the chicken doesn’t taste like chicken.

Worst meal we’ve ever had in a restaurant! When we arrived around 5:30 pm on a Friday, the lone waiter and the lone cook were having an argument in Chinese which momentarily delayed our seating. Our meal was awful from start to finish: the egg roll was so bad we didn’t eat more than one bite. It seemed to have been fried in old grease. The wonton soup broth was fine, but the wontons were chewy. The chicken curry looked like someone had vomited it onto the plate. The sweet and sour shrimp came with broccoli – no carrots, pineapple, onion, or green pepper – and had little sauce. The shrimp were covered with a soft, thick cake-like coating which had to be scraped off in order to get to the shrimp. The fried rice was clumpy, chewy, brown rice with no peas, carrots, or any other kind of flavor. All the tables were set but none had knives. There was only one other occupied table while we were there, and the woman at that other table asked for a knife. We also asked but he never brought them (maybe he was busy with the one other table?) so I got up and walked across the restaurant to get two knives out of a container. It was also quite cold in the restaurant, and we had to wear our winter coats the entire meal.

The staff was extremely friendly, and went above and beyond for us even though we came in at the last minute before they closed, unaware of the lunch hours. The food was also great! Definitely would recommend to anyone!
