I debated leaving a review as I don’t want to cause a business to lose customers. However, someone else had mentioned what happened to us earlier in their review so I figured might as well ♀️
My husband wanted to go to the Mayflower in Lenoir but I’d convinced him to try this place out so we ended up at KSS instead. We arrived around 11:20 or so and we were seated immediately. There were probably 5 other tables that were occupied when we got there. We got our drink orders quickly but our food took quite a while. My husband suspected it was because they had just opened for the day, so they were still having to get in the groove of things..
I am very curious as to what this establishment’s sanitation rating is. The first thing I noticed when our food arrived was that the plate was pretty greasy. I understand that the food is greasy, duh, but I’m talking about areas of the plate that didn’t even have food, like the plate wasn’t properly washed. Next, the fries were lukewarm. My husband said his shrimp were overcooked. Halfway thru my fries, I saw hair on my plate (1st photo). I didn’t say anything til my husband found hair on HIS plate (2nd photo). [He saw three strands on his plate but I only took a pic of the grossest one.] I’d only eaten one oyster and had given another to my husband. We called our server’s attention to it and she took our plates away and I guess they were going to remake them. However, we’d lost our appetites and they’d had more customers arrive at this point, plus there was was a line at the door, so we just tipped our waitress and left.
Portions aren’t a lot, as you can see from the last two photos. We hadn’t really had much, save for the fries as we tried to eat them before they got completely cold. I didn’t try the hush puppies but my husband said they were burnt.
I’m leaving this review as a criticism and not an insult, in hopes that the business would try to be stricter with keeping their restaurant AND their staff clean. That said, we probably wouldn’t be back.

Food was tasty, but the lack of simple common sense on the part of the employees was unacceptable. You receive coffee and asked if you would like cream. Received none, and had to go ask for it. Received hamburger steak and had to ask for a knife. Baked potato was almost burned. Seat in booth contained debris from previous customer.

We went to Kim’s for lunch. Food was good but service was a bit clunky. I had the fish sandwich. We had a couple orders of the shrimp cocktails and a burger and fries. The vinegar fries were pretty good. The pricing was excellent and very fair for the amount of food served. Service was slow even though the restaurant was about 20%full. The atmosphere was that of a diner. Would probably try the restaurant again.

Have eaten here twice within a weeks time while in the Morganton area on storm restoration duty. This restaurant has a terrific family owned and operated atmosphere, food is cooked perfectly, and the wait staff are professional and courteous. I’ve had the combo plate and also the haddock and fried oysters. This is a good place to have a good fresh cooked meal any night of the week. Good job Kim’s!

Katie was great and helpful. The food was really good and the cost was very reasonable. The portions were more than enough to fill you up. We will be back again. Kids meal was shrimp and my wife had oysters ( large. Not little like most places ,)

Ordered the grouper fingers appetizer, and it was more like a meal. The oyster po’boy was great with plenty of oysters . The Louisiana potatoes were hot and flavourful. Look forward to our next visit.

Great seafood in the area and generally had some good delicious options. Fried chicken tenders were very stiff and “rubbery” and the BBQ sauce was nasty in mine and my sister opinion and the fries were pretty basic but Popcorn shrimp was yummy and hushpuppies were very good! Slaw was white slaw so it was good imo. The staff was very friendly and even though my ordered got delayed due to a mix up they handled it very kindly. Service was great! Will come again 🙂

I’m used to eating at mayflower but it being a Sunday they closed early so I figured let’s try kims..Big mistake the perch was only 3 flimsy small pieces and greasy, the coleslaw was nasty and hushpuppies was a little dry but they was the only edible thing I ordered..I hate to give a local buisness a bad review but I totally wasted money trying this place cause the fish I ordered went straight into the trash. The food was greasy and falling apart, the servings was small and nothing tasted crispy and fresh..The Pic is after I ate some fries and tried a piece of the fish and gave the remaining piece to my puppy..
