From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with the most incredible, mouth-watering aroma that sets the tone for an amazing meal. We indulged in their brisket sandwiches, which were perfectly moist and flavorful. The sides were just as impressive: mac and cheese that was creamy and comforting, hush puppies served with a unique cinnamon butter, and fried buffalo chips paired with a spicy ranch that added the perfect kick. The French fries were cooked to absolute perfection—crispy and golden.

What really sets The Smoke House apart is the incredible variety of BBQ sauces, ranches, pickles, and onions available, allowing you to customize your meal to your heart’s content. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the restaurant was spotless, making for a pleasant dining experience.

We’re thrilled to say that this has become our new favorite date spot, and we’ll definitely be back. As a bonus, they’re currently running a fantastic summer deal: from 11am-3pm every day, you can get a pulled pork sandwich with a side and a drink for just $7!

10/10 highly recommend!

New BBQ restaurant that is well known in Southport now has a place in Monkey Junction and I’m so happy.
My son wanted BBQ while on leave and this place didn’t disappoint. Counter service is fast and efficient.
Pulled pork was moist and had some burnt ends which didn’t even need sauce but the sauce bar with all kinds of choices didn’t hurt. Everything from SC mustard, Eastern NC, Lexington and spicy. The hush puppies were very crisp and filled with corn. They were a little sweet and some of the best I’ve had. The Mac and cheese was creamy and very cheesy. The seasoned crinkle fries came out piping hot and crispy. The brisket was juicy and perfectly cooked.
Reasonable prices for a half pound platter.

I was in wilmington for new years and wanted some delicious bbq. I saw this plave and was very excited to try it. I was very disappointed with everything except for the hush puppies and the spicy potatoes. The brisket looked amazing, but had no seasoning. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese which also had no seasoning and no cheese. We also ordered the smoked chicken again no seasoning and I know it was smoked, but was ice cold and looked raw still. I understand it was new year’s eve and that is no exception for pour quality bbq that needs the sauce for flavor. One of the people walked around and never asked how the food was at my table, but went to other tables.

We live in the neighborhood and eat here often. Used to love it but the food has gradually declined. There is a lot of turnover so the quality is inconsistent. Brisket is my favorite, but the banana pudding is terrible. The Brunswick stew made my husband sick, so I thought it was time to leave a review.

I hate to do this cause this was my go to Bbq, but I’ll be going to City from now on. Super bummed cause I truly loved this place. Last two times walk in 8 employees not one says a thing . They act irritated like you’re bothering them. The food was so awful my husband and myself couldn’t even eat. Like so old and dry it was like jerky. Coleslaw literally had not a flavor like they forgot the sugar lol wrong sauces in containers and just a disaster. There was an older gentleman working, but he look to not care either . Definitely disappointed (it’s okay to greet customers or say bye either works guys . You would think one of the 8 working would say anything. Especially since there was only one other party of 2 in there ,Or hey how is it ? This place is not it anymore

As a BBQ snob, this is certainly not NC’s best cue by any means, but as the only option south of Oleander, it gets the job done and is a step up from the building’s previous tenant, Dickey’s. The pork was extremely greasy (you can see me holding the sandwich with a napkin) and had a light smoky flavor (I expected more from a place with smoke in its name). There were a lot of sauce options, but none of them were great (though Lexington was the best of the bunch). The mac & cheese did not taste good, and I would not eat it again. The $5 sandwich, side, and drink special is a fantastic deal, but I doubt I’ll be back in to pay full price for this.

First and foremost I most say I’m super impressed to know that Wilmington finally has one of the best BBQ restaurants in ENC finally. Was surprised to come back from an extended stay overseas for work to be told this happened. From someone who has lived her for years and has had to either go to Southport or Leland to experience this goodness, I must say I’m happy to know that I no longer have to travel for this amazing food. My coworkers an I have enjoyed this food for years. It was nice to come back to the US and be able to enjoy the amazing meat selection and not to mention the best sides available in Buffalo chips and Mac and cheese. I highly recommend and so glad this replaced Dickies. I felt Mission and Dickies were terrible BBQ places and glad to have the MVP of BBQ joints. Must say the staff are amazing as the other locations. I really enjoyed my food today along with the leftovers.

If I could give it higher than 5 stars I would. The food was soooo good. I got the pulled pork, Mac and cheese, and baked beans and tried their sweet, Lexington, and spicy sauces. The pulled pork was tender and juicy, the beans were Smokey with a little kick, and the Mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and perfect.
The sauces were also excellent. The Lexington was a vinegar base and thus more liquid, the sweet was a thicker tangy sweet bbq sauce, the spicy was a thicker tangier sauce and different than I expected, but no complaints.

We also got a kids pulled pork sandwich with hush puppies on the side (you can pick from their sides for the option you want) and our kiddo said “10 stars.” The hush puppies come with butter or cinnamon butter and were also amazing.

They have sauces over to the side after ordering for you to choose from and pickles and sliced pickled jalapeños available there as well.

The staff were very nice and the service was prompt.

It’s a smaller establishment in a plaza with other places and stores. They have order in or to go options and ordering online options as well. Everything is hickory smoked on-site daily.

We definitely plan to be back!

Figured I’d write a review after my third stop at The Smoke House at Monkey Junction in Wilmington, and it’s easily some of the best BBQ I’ve tried after traveling far and wide. The brisket was tender, the pulled pork was flavorful, and the Alabama white sauce was spot-on-creamy with a nice tang. The green beans were fresh, the hush puppies were crispy with great cinnamon butter, and the sides held their own. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly, and everything just clicked.

I don’t know where to begin, but the service was incredible. I absolutely loved everything I ate and the sweet tea was perfect. They have a hundred percent sanitation rating, which I don’t know if i’ve ever seen, and the whole restaurant was spotless, or you can tell that they take extreme pride with what they do. Absolutely blown away
