Service is good, manager came by to see if everything was alright. The place is a bit overpriced but you pay for the view and the Fermont experience.
We ordered the salmon tartar for our starters, which was fresh and tasty, plus balanced by a glass of champagne for its sourness (raspberry mousse on top). That’s a great start.
Next, my wife had the lamb while I enjoyed lobster risotto. The lamb is cooked around medium-medium rare, and the pairing enhanced the texture without the “smell” some people dislikes.
As for the risotto, it tastes great with alternated grains. My wife did mention that the risotto is a bit too creamy to finish on its own, so we added a lemon wedge to it, and things became fantastic.
Note that the proportion could be slightly small for some people since I know both of us don’t eat a lot and we were both “just full.” But absolutely, satisfied 🙂
Finally, we had our chocolate lava cake as our dessert, which sums up our delightful experience. The cake was fairly balanced sweetness and bitterness (leaning to the sweeter side with a glimpse of sourness). While molten chocolate cake is my all time favorite—I list the place on top 10% of my list (high-end restaurants only).
The restaurant is kind of busy, reservations strongly recommended, and the servers are professional and at least bi-lingual (a few multi-lingual, one of them spoke more than 5 as mentioned). So in the end, this is a place we recommend! (Fairly 4.5 stars+ to us)
I was just amazed by the atmosphere; magnificent view, best to go there during sunset to enjoy the view.
Talking about food, I wonder why this restaurant doesn’t have Michelin stars!!!
Tried the Foie Gras for the first time and it literally melted in my mouth. I would say it’s a must have if you are meat lovers.
Then had ravioli and duck breast. I never had ravioli that delicious. I think if I live by that restaurant, i would have gone there once in a month to have this ravioli. The duck breast was also delicious.
I want to let you know that food quantities were not satisfactory to me but it’s very common in fine dine restaurants.
Overall, It was an amazing experience, need to save money to visit that place again in next year.
We had an appetizer, then waited about a half hour for our main course (we both got the beef – it was amazing). My beer had long since been finished, yet the waitress didn’t show again until after our main course was finished. Easily I could have had a few more drinks. It’s not like the restaurant was overly busy – I have no idea why she pretty much disappeared for almost the entirety of our meal. BTW, the main course was delivered from the kitchen and not by the waitress.
Make no mistake about it, the food was awesome. But, for the price we paid I expect the service too to be impeccable. It was not.
Staff very friendly and professional and due to the current circumstances staff work hard and have to deal with a lot.
Certainly would happily return for another great meal
We were there first customers on the reopening day post Covid-19. The whole Hotel site is safe and the staff was very welcoming, albeit their obligation to wear a mask and distanciation.
Four of us ordered the hamburger and it was just fantastic and the portion is bigger than most people need. The kids really liked the view on the river and the sound of the waves.
We will definitely stop by this restaurant next time we are in the region.
