While at the North Carolina Arboretum, we decided to eat lunch here instead of going out to eat somewhere else. So the location is ideal if you are planning on spending the day at the Arboretum.

The menu is limited, but we each found something we liked. I had the chicken salad sandwich, our friends had the turkey sandwich, and Husband had the hotdogs. All meals came with chips. We had our water bottles, so we didn’t need to buy a drink. If we had, there were canned sodas, and bottles of water in a nearby cooler. Friends’ white bread was better than my whole grain bread. The whole grain bread was dense and I wanted to taste the chicken salad, so I skipped the bread and ate the chicken salad with a fork.

We tried one of their cookies – a chocolate chip with walnut and nuts. It was very good. Aside from being pricey, the food was good, and the ambience was very nice. We liked the giant leaves over our heads, and the leaves on the windows.

Love Bent Creek Bistro. I come here every other weekend to listen to live music and get my fix of curried chickpeas. Soooo good. Their loyalty program is awesome too!

Food was excellent. The Lemon & Blueberry Coffee Cake With Struesel and Lemon Glaze was to die for. The pimento cheese sandwich was fabulous. I had to keep my husband from scooping up some of the cheese that melted out of my sandwich. Highly recommend both.

I have to be honest. I wasn’t expecting much from the on-site bistro at The Arboretum. I thought they’d have some pre-made sandwiches and chips.

WRONG!

They have all kinds of goodies here. I had the Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich and it is definitely in the top 3 Curry Chicken Salad Sandwiches I’ve ever had…and I’ve eaten more than my share of them.

There were also 5 harpist playing music outside on the patio while we ate.

All and all it was probably more enjoyable than the gardens themselves (although the model train display was a big hit with everyone).

Had an early lunch here on Sunday on Memorial weekend and got in line about 11:15 am there were only 3 people ahead of us so managed to get out orders in quickly, credit card only payment. Great lunch and a nice seating area outside in the shade.
Will go back again this is the 2nd time eating here.

We were hungry after taking trails here and luckily there is this Bistro. We tried tomato bisque and roasted turkey sandwich. Both are good. Atmosphere is wonderful.

Not very good. Worst hot dog ever. The lady beside us said they made her sandwich wrong to the manager and he replied ‘Well I guess we won’t see you again.’

$4 for an old drip coffee in a 12 oz cup is really an outrageous start to an order. After the gal at the counter rang it up I told my husband not to order a second. Them be worse than Starbucks prices! Ordered a turkey sandwich grilled- it came with red picked onions and without lettuce or tomato- the chef did give me lettuce and tomato afterwards when I asked and said with hot sandwiches they don’t add toppings. That’s fine, but not specified anywhere. And I really dislike unsolicited and undisclosed onions. Chips were fine. Outdoor patio is lovely. Not gonna rush back.
