Why was there no wait for a Saturday night? Walked in around 5:30 and was greeted and seated immediately. Walking into this lighting was like walking into a hospital waiting room. Typical drop ceiling with lights in the ceiling grid. Felt more like a VFW just without the pool tables and people sitting at the bar. TVs were on and one with volume, no music playing in the restaurant. It’s a little bit weird to have waitresses sitting at the bar rolling forks/knives into napkins when the restaurant is “busy” for a Saturday night. The lighting feels like a place I want to leave, not hang out in.
I really would like this restaurant to be successful because I do enjoy the food and it’s closer to my house than the other restaurants. Just fix that lighting!
Every table and chair is uniquely hand painted, and no scene is repeated. The walls are murals. The vibe and decor are absolutely on point. I wish I could have tried everything. My mouth was watering watching people’s meals come out even after I ate and was waiting for my check. The food was absolutely amazing.
Its a little pricey, but between the vibe food service and portion size it was WELL worth it.
We were sat at 1:30pm.
We got sat at our booth and waited about 25 minutes for our server to get to us after other wait staff brought us chips and waters. The restaurant was not that busy for the amount of servers that were on. Our server came over and didn’t really know the menu that well, she took our order and then it took another 25 minutes for our appetizers (cheese dip, guacamole, and the la tequila dip) to arrive. We then had to get up to ask for side plates and napkins because we were 10 minutes into sharing and nobody came to check in.
After continuing to wait our server walked by and noticed our food taking a long time, she mumbled something out about going to check and then never came back to inform us about the situation. I had to get up and tell her she didn’t come back to let us know how long was going to be after being here and have ordered for over an hour and she said she said it would be another 15 minutes.
Following that, the person whom we were celebrating had to leave because the food was taking so long, so we asked them to box the food up. They came out and inform us the did not have multiple of the ingredients to make the meal, after waiting a more than an hour this really upset us, how couldn’t they know they were out and not inform the table?
We got our food about 15 minutes after that. First plate; the steak was overdone in the burrito, the second plate was the complete wrong order (she ordered a quesadilla and got two burritos, one chicken, one beef – the beef was awful) she barely ate it. Mine was the only one semi right and I’d originally asked for it to come with lettuce, which it did not. So when the man who ran the food out dropped our food off I asked for some, he did not understand what I was asking. I picked up lettuce off my girlfriend’s plate and asked for a bowl of it and he proceeded to look at our server, waive her over, and walk off. When the server got there she then asked the guy, who was then 4 tables away at this point, to get it. To which he responded with an immediate nod of “acknowledgment”. Point of the story, I did not get the lettuce from either of them and had to ask a Nina to step in and assist us for the rest of the meal, not like anyone else was.
As I wrapped up my meal I found a small black hair in my food and that really was the last straw. They did comp the bill, however we will not go back until/if things turn around.
The manager left mid dinning hours to go off and do whatever, leaving Nina to fend for the restaurant. The hosts were on their phones, sitting at the bar, eating, and not very attentive. The door was also propped open so insects and down feathers from birds outside were rolling into the restaurant.
We voiced our experience to Nina who we hope passes the word along to the current manager.
We left at 3:40.
The interior of the restaurant was very nice, each table and chair had a beautiful design on it. We hope well for this restaurant to get into a rhythm but for now we will be going to La Fogata in Skowhegan.
This restaurant has a long way to go before I could give it a better rating. There was not a part of our experience that we enjoyed
Also, the food we got to take to our friend that left was one of the worst birria tacos they ever had. I hope the kitchen and food serving staff can turn things around as other table seemed to have orders wrong or food going to the wrong place as well.
One last critique was there is a heavy amount of cilantro in the salsa, guacamole, and la tequila dip
We were welcomed in and I was surprised by how large the restaurant was. It was extremely spacious with beautiful funky artistic decor.
The staff (Melody and Jocelyn) was very nice, welcoming and conversational. Chips and salsa were delivered immediately. I ordered an alcoholic beverage, not one I would normally order and it was delicious.
Our food arrived very quickly, the serving was huge and the food was delicious. I’m a huge fan of Chilli Rellones and theirs was the best I’ve had yet. The poblano pepper was fresh, huge and stuff with amazing cheese.
Overall our experience was outstanding and we will definitely be a regular.
Minor issues compared to the quality of the food. Would recommend.
